Color Club Foil Me Once

Another from the Color Club Foiled collection is Foil Me Once, a pinkish lavender purple metallic.  I had icky indirecy sun this day, so I apologize for the darkness of them.  I used a base of Zoya Get Even to cover my ridges, and 2 coats of polish.  To keep the metallic sheen, I did not use a top coat.

Why hello indirect sunlight!  I like this color a lot better than the Lumin-icecent just because I think it goes better with my skin, but formula wise?  Perfect.  Metallics are pretty awesome things - normally opaque in 1-2 coats, have some shimmer to them... look futuristic.  Speaking of, I need to think of a Halloween costume as I'm now going to a party (bleh, I'm not one for Halloween, to be honest).  Any thoughts?

And this indoors with the flash - I was trying to put some cuticle oil on too so that's why my pinkie looks super shiny.  Speaking of shine - look how shiny these nails look!  No top coat!  Really!

Color Club is located on several etailers, including Head2Toe Beauty which has it for $3.00.  You can also Like them on Facebook and Follow them on Twitter.

Color Club Lumin-icecent

I'm jumping all over the place again and today I have Color Club's Lumin-icecent from the Foiled collection.   This was a group of metallic colors that are very reminiscent of the China Glaze Khrome or Romantique collection.  As with metallics, they will show every ridge or dent in your nail (if you have them like me!).

I used a base coat of Zoya Get Even, 2 coats of polish and I decided to go without a top coat because I loved the shine that these colors produce on their own.

So this was before a manicure - can you tell?  My cuticles were horrible, especially my middle finger!!!  I love the base color of this blue - it reminds me a bit of Zoya Crystal - without the gold.

I'm not sure how I feel about metallics.  I think they are pretty awesome but they are also awesomely shocking on the nail.  I like the idea of toning it down with glitter, crackle/shatter or even some Konad.

Indoors with a flash - kinda fail on this one.  But at least you can see that metallic blue ... and a bad polishing job.  Hah, seriously - fail Krystal... fail.

China Glaze Tickle My Triangle

Oldie by a goodie!  China Glaze Tickle My Triangle is a pink holographic from the Kaleidoscope collection.  I would definitely consider this my "go to" polish - I packed it on several trips including a flight to California where the formula turned weird on me after high altitude.  Apparently this isn't normal, as I learned from some bloggers who always bring polish on the plane in their carry on... but whatever.  I find that my polish is slightly thicker ever since California.  I used to get away with 1 thin coat but not anymore.

For this manicure on super nubbins (boo), I used 3 thin coats, no base and no top coat.

The Kaleidoscope collection was the follow up to the OMG! collection where instead of a linear (line like) rainbow, the polish was scattered with lots of holographic glitter particles which give off a scattered rainbow look.

Normally the shade removes all appearance of a holo from polish but you can just barely see some in there.

And finally indoors with the flash and you can see a bit of the holographic goodness on the index finger.  I do love this polish!  I need to wear it more often.  Sadly this is discontinued but sometimes you can find it on eBay or Amazon from sellers.

China Glaze can be found online through several etailers, including my favorite Head2Toe Beauty, Sally's Beauty Supply as well as TransDesign.

ORLY Rock Solid

So ORLY (which I still don't know how to pronounce.  Is it O-really like the Internet meme or is it Or-Lee like I've heard some people say) came out with a new line of FX polishes - Mineral FX.  I saw these at Cosmoprof North America but forgot to photograph them (go figure).  I tried setting up an appointment to talk to the company, but they were booked and I missed out on finding out what was what.  I originally LOVED Rock Solid, and kept thinking how it would be mine - a charcoal grey with holographic glitter?  Yes please.

I used a base coat of Seche Natural, 2 coats of polish and a top of Seche Vite.  This polish does dry gritty, so you may want to add 2 coats of top coat.

Unfortunately for me, this polish does NOT look as amazing on the nail as it does in the bottle.  The glitter really gets lost in the polish which is not what I was hoping for.

In the shade, the glitter pretty much gets lost completely.  I kept thinking my nails looked like concrete.

Finally indoors with the flash - you can see loads of glitter in the bottle but not as much on my nails.

I was super disappointed by this polish - so much that I seriously considered taking it back to the store and I've never done that before.  This line is more expensive than normal ORLY colors and I just wasn't happy with it.  I ended up putting it back on my shelf - maybe one day I can find some love for it.

You can purchase Orly for $7.50 through their website, or it's available online at Head2ToeBeauty for $10 and in Sally's Beauty Supply stores for $8.99.  Additionally, you can Like them on Facebook or follow them on Twitter.

CND Pink Wishes effect

After a very annoyingly horrid experience of changing to AT&T U-verse (which turns out, I really didn't HAVE to do - I'm not getting any better service or even speed because I'm outside the service area), I'm back today with the duo of CND's Pink Wishes - the Effect.  Using the previous colour, I added one coat of the Pink Wishes Effect.  CND describes it as a sweet, pale pink pearlescent sheen.  I really am in love with how the effects line can transform your polishes.

Now granted this is a pink on pink effect, so the shimmer (pearl) isn't as strong as I'd like it to me.  Great for the office or a low key event, but definitely not an in your face effect.

The effect is almost completely lost in the shade as you can see.  The bottle shows more than the nail.

Indoors with the flash, and again this is just a very subtle effect.  If you'd like to check the effect over black polish, The PolishAholic has a great swatch here.

CND Pink Wishes colour

I posted a couple of months ago about CND's Pink Wishes, a colour and pearl effects set and now i have it to share!  I'm breaking it up into colour and effects posts, because well, I'm just unique like that.  :]

I used a base coat of CND Stickey and then 4 coats of Pink Wishes colour.  Yes, four painstakingly thin coats.  I just couldn't get it to sit right or be even coated.  I'm not sure what the deal was - was it my base coat?  Was it the ridiculous heat of Texas not sitting right with the formula?  I topped it with a coat of CND Air Dry top coat.

Even with 4 coats, it is a pretty pink - more of a pale colour.

I really prefer it in the shade though - again I apologize for the messy shaped nails... I never got to my manicurist.

Indoors with the flash - you can see that it finally evened out to a nice solid creme.

Today I went to Bella Bella Hair Salon (which I highly recommend for anyone in the Coastal Bend area) to work with the Breast Cancer Awareness promotion that they are a part of with MD Photography.  I had my peek a boo purple Elumen pieces dyed hot pink and they added some pink tinsel as well.  I'm still a bit shocked to see myself with pink but hey, it's just hair!  And it's cute.  :]

My friend Karen has Stage IV metastatic breast cancer ever since I've known her and I was thinking of her a lot today while all of us were lined up getting pink in our hair.  I have a lot of love and prayers for her, even though I never say it enough.  Hug your friends today.

And on that note, I'm off to the gym to go to Zumba for the first time in 4 months!

I got to see these at Cosmoprof North America and they looked pretty neat!  I really wanted to smell the holiday berry cuticle oil but didn't get a chance.  Snow Globe is a repromote glitter from the Specialty Collection.  I did get to snag a nail wheel, so here are some preliminary photos (sun and shade), including a scanned sheet from their press papers they had available.
