So for now, I think I'm going to be showcasing 2 indies and 2 mainstream polishes a week. I think that's a pretty decent balance as I'm going through my Purge and just my collection in general. It also helps keep me motivated because I have so many pros and cons when it comes to indies and when it comes to mainstreams. Mondays are still currently a toss up. I have #MakeupMonday or sometimes I just want to throw in another polish or nail treatment... What are your thoughts on that?
Today I pulled out Contrary Polish The Boulevard. This is from the No Place Like Home collection from 2013 and I picked it up at one of the PolishCon conventions because it just really caught my eye at the time. This is listed as a dusty navy blue jelly with orange/red shimmer but to me it really looks more green. I really liked the concept of the orange/red shimmer so away I go!
I used Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling base coat, 2 thin coats of polish and finished with Glisten & Glow top coat. The formula was interesting - it reminded me a little of slime? That's not a bad thing but it just wanted to glide on my nails and then not be touched until it dried. I think that's the jelly base working.
So here it is on my nails. My middle finger has some VNL going on that I don't know what's happening. And the shimmer definitely glows. However, the base color just isn't doing it for me. While I do see dusty navy in the bottle, it came out more green on my nails and I just don't love it. Sadly, this polish won't make it through The Purge and into my boxes but that's okay! It's still a great polish and I know it will be loved by the next owner.
