Sphynx - Portable Razor

Press Sample

Happy Makeup Monday! Today I'm giving my nails a break and wanted to share this really cute portable razor that I got at Cosmoprof North America last year! I went to their media luncheon and Sphynx was one of the beauty brands that was exhibiting. On top of the idea being awesome, the packaging is super cute. Sphynx comes in four colors - Pink Me Up, Teal The Deal, Berry Haute and Black In Style and is available for $14.99 on their website.

Cosmoprof North America 2017

Nothing To Disclose

Cosmoprof North America was a BLAST! On top of seeing some of my favorite bloggers, I also got to meet with some of my favorite brands, as well as meet some new ones! It's always a pleasure to head out to Las Vegas for a few days to see all things beauty.

Cosmoprof North America 2017

It's that time again! Later today, I'm leaving for Las Vegas to attend Cosmoprof North America. The show actually starts today, and I'm trying to grab an earlier flight but as it stands right now, I'll be in on Monday and meeting with Morgan Taylor, Le Chat, China Glaze and others. Plus I'll see some of my favorite bloggers again during the conference along with some new faces!

Be sure to check my Instagram for the latest and greatest but I'll be back with all the things I'm allowed to share soon!

Where has June gone?! Sorry it's been quiet on my front - we had not one but three tornadoes come through my town on May 31st, one right past my house. We sustained quite a bit of damage but in the end, we're okay, the cats are okay, and I didn't even lose any nail polish. It's the little things, right? However, all that aside, I am excited to announce that I will be attending Cosmoprof North America again this year! This is the largest business-to-business beauty show in the country and it's three days jam packed with educational panels, product demos, meetings and more. This will be my 6th year to attend, and I'm hoping to gain some great coverage of new and exciting products. Sometimes, products are embargoed, meaning that I'm not allowed to take photos or even write information down. Other times, I'm allowed to share about new products or collections on social media and my blog, so if you're not doing so now, be sure to like me on Facebook, follow on Twitter and Instagram and add me to Snapchat.

But get this! The group of bloggers who have been allowed to cover the show for their blogs has grown and now we have coverage from all over! Here is a list of bloggers who will be at the show and where to follow them. If you click on their logo, you'll go to their blog, but the social media methods they will be posting on, are located under their logo.

This is not a full list. If you are attending and would like to be included in this list, please email me at krystalATpolishgaloreDOTcom

Cosmoprof / GlossyBox Collaboration

This July Cosmoprof North America (CPNA) proudly brought back the successful sampling concept, BOUTIQUE, to its already exemplary program of new and returning initiatives.  This sampling bar allowed attendees to select deluxe-sized samples, including the latest in up-and-coming cosmetics, skin care, nails, hair and some classic beauty favorites. Once at the sampling bar, attendees could hand-pick seven deluxe samples from 20 featured exhibiting brands in exchange for a small charitable donation that benefited CITY OF HOPE, a leading research, treatment and education center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.

The BOUTIQUE concept was widely successful at last year’s show and announces a special collaboration with GLOSSYBOX, the leading online purveyor of luxury beauty with recent collaborations that GLOSSYBOX has launched with brands, including Net-A-Porter, Bergdorf Goodman, La Prairie and many others.  The limited edition Cosmoprof BOUTIQUE box will be available for sale exclusively on GLOSSYBOX.com on August 1  for $40. The limited edition box will feature seven products and will have a small run. Once sold out - it is gone!

CPNA: LVX 2014

I randomly walked up right before the brother-sister team behind LVX had their audition for QVC/HSN/Shop - they made it in the final round of auditions and have a great shot at being on one of these three channels!

I had no idea that LVX was going to be at Cosmoprof North America this year, but I was excited to see them in Discover Beauty again this year. Branka and Rade Tomic are a fantastic example of when family businesses work and work well. LVX has consistently been churning out on trend polishes each season and just recently came out with their own gel-like top coat.

Nerd moment - they also came out with new boxes that have the cutout so you can see the polish you're purchasing before you buy it.

I did get a sneak peek at the new fall collection (top row) which did not have names at press time. I asked Branka why she decided to go with two greys and she smiled and said "Because I can."
I'm also excited about that red on the end. It's similar to Roux from the summer collection but has more magenta in it. (Bottom row is the summer 2014 collection.)

Keep watching for more amazing things coming from LVX here on PolishGalore!

CPNA: Morgan Taylor 2014

Following suit from last year, I got to talk to Taylor of Morgan Taylor about all things coming out 2014, but first I had to sign a non-disclosure agreement about Spring 2015! You KNOW something big is coming... I wasn't even allowed to take notes or photographs.

But let's talk about what I can. Summer 2014 was all about neons - which I just ordered myself this past weekend. I can't wait to play with them as they were super neon in person.

Next we have the Fall 2014 Collection - Enchanted. This collection was inspired by the fall fashion week and the trends that were seen on the runway. The 6 piece collection has been broken down into two 3-piece sets - "Do You Believe?" which includes Who-Dini, Now You See Me, and Simply Spellbound; and "The Magic Touch" which includes Hocus Pocus, I'm The Good Witch, and Magician's Assistant.

For Halloween 2014, Morgan Taylor has a repromote of their black polish but are introducing a brand new hot orange called Orange Crush.

As soon as I'm given the go-ahead for the Winter Collection, I'll post it!

CPNA: nubar 2014

I always enjoy seeing the nubar booth at Cosmoprof. Their booth is located right by the entrance to the press room, so it's typically one of the first ones that I see each year. This year, Aimee sat me down to talk about her new collections and we tossed around a few ideas.

This summer, they launched their Social Butterfly collection which isn't on their website at this time, but you can always order by calling them using the number on their website.

For the World Cup (which was going on during Cosmoprof North America), nubar packaged some of their core colors into a special set that would allow you to recreate all the different flags around the world. This is a great collection for someone wanting to get started with nubar and need some core colors.

Launching this fall is the FALLing In Love collection - 8 new polishes all made with mica for a great shimmer. Names were not available at press time.

Also coming this year from nubar - a matte top coat launching in fall and a new PoliCure top coat. Use it over any polish brand and it will cure in the sunlight (no lamp needed) to a gel like finish in both durability and shine. To remove, use regular nail polish remover - no buffing or drilling needed.  Considering that the big thing at Cosmoprof this year was gel-like polish systems (Ever Glaze, Caption, Bio Seaweed Gel), it's really neat to see just a top coat that can be used over ANY polish brand that will give you the look and feel like gel without being a gel.

CPNA: ORLY 2014

Earlier this month, I got to meet with ORLY during Cosmoprof North America to talk about what's coming up new for ORLY this year.

This fall, ORLY is launching "Smoky", a 6 piece collection of dusty hues and shimmers. Shades include Highlight (Grey Crème), Edgy (Antique Bronze Shimmer), Darkest Shadow (Black w/ Red Shimmer), Brush It On (Rose Bronze Duo Chrome Shimmer), Blend (Warm Taupe Crème), Smoked Out (Dark Green Matte Shimmer). It will available starting in September 2014.

ORLY Brush It On

Another thing coming out from ORLY is their new BB Cream.
Similar to the beauty benefits of a traditional BB for the face, ORLY’s BB Crème offers an all-in-one topical cosmetic treatment that perfects the look of natural nails for a healthy, flawless finish. The unique formula smooths the surface of the natural nail, hydrates to prevent breakage, brightens the surface and protects from damaging UV rays, while glass microspheres provide a brilliant chip-resistant finish with a sheer peach tint for natural nails perfected.

TO USE: Apply one or two coats for desired opacity onto bare nails. Not meant to be used as a basecoat, topcoat, or with nail color. ORLY BB Crème will be available July 2014 and retails for $15.00. ORLY Nail Lacquers and Treatment products are available at orlybeauty.com.

I fell in love with the ORLY Instant Artists line when I got one in my Nail Art Society kit. Turns out, there is a WHOLE LINE dedicated to it. Not only that - it's TWO LINES! One is water based (the one I've tried) which is great for the error proned artist (like myself) because you can wash your mistakes off with water before sealing it with top coat. ORLY also makes a lacquer based line for those with more steady hands. Both can be purchased at orlybeauty.com.

ORLY also had their line of Rich Renewal on display.

For consumers, ORLY had their smartGELS line available to look at as well. Easy to apply, 2 weeks of wear, high shine and the ability to apply at home gives you the opportunity to make your ORLY last longer.

The Halloween collection and Winter collection were embargoed so I wasn't able to take photos but holy cow, Winter especially was amazing so stay tuned to PolishGalore!

CPNALV: China Glaze 2014

China Glaze will always be my first love. They are responsible for my polish obsession.

First things first. Flip Flop Fantasy. The Swatchaholic posted on Instagram the other day a great comparison between the "old" Flip Flop Fantasy and the "new" Flip Flop Fantasy.

Bad news, there is a third version floating out there. GOOD NEWS China Glaze has secured the pigments from the original batch and WILL be making the original polish again. That's something that I had to ask immediately upon arrival because I know everyone wants to know.

So now let's talk collections until the end of the year.

First up is the Limited Edition collaboration for the movie The Giver, coming out August 15th. You can find this collection already in your local beauty supply store but if you like it, GET IT NOW because around this time next year, this will be gone forever.

Coming this fall will the the All Aboard collection. This is a 12 shade collection that has all been inspired by Fashion Week. After this collection goes out, all these will be moved to the core collection. Choo-Choo Choose You is my stand out - it's a dusty purple with a shimmer to it.

This fall for Breast Cancer Awareness, China Glaze will have the Celebrate Courage collection. The three reds on the right are all repromotes of favorite colors including one of my FAVORITE POLISHES OF ALL TIMES - Strawberry Fields. On the left are three brand new colors that dry to a velvet matte finish and totally opaque in just 2 colors.

This Halloween brings the Apocalypse of Colour collection - a 6 piece which includes (wait for it) a full sized bottle of Ghoulish Glow! People have hated only having mini bottles so China Glaze was like - yes, let's make if full size and good to go!  Additionally, China Glaze will introduce "Tiny Tots" - a micro mini polish that hasn't been seen much in the states before. They are .125 fl oz which are perfect to throw in your handbag for a quick fix. The 3 being introduced are a white, a black and an orange (all mico minis of existing colors).

Rounding out this year is the Holiday 2014 collection Twinkle. We have glitters, we have metallics, we have cremes. Additionally there will be 3 gift sets available but to my sadness, there isn't a shot glass this year. I MEAN CANDLE HOLDER.

And finally is the Tiny Tots which will be available as a tabletop display and HELLO FAIRY DUST.

If you haven't read this post by the mercurial magpie, do it now. (Slight NSFW language)

Coming in 2015 were some neat things that I can't talk about yet but stay connected with me and I'll let you know when it's out!

Gelaze by China Glaze Update

So speaking of Gelaze, they are coming out with new colors! And more importantly for the professionals out there, Gelaze is finally launching their 0.5 fl oz PRO bottles!

The new PRO bottles are launching now at professional beauty supply stores but not at Sally Beauty Supply. Sally will continue to carry the mini sizes for the non-professional (like me!) to get their Gelaze fix.

Coming in January 2015, 23 new shades will be launched. Unlike Ever Glaze, Gelaze is the gel version OF existing China Glaze lacquers. These 23 shades will all launch as minis and as pro 0.5 bottles but just a quick heads up - of the above 23, Sally Beauty Supply will only be carrying 6. (The names were not available at press time.)

Also available now are the Gelaze starter kits for mini and pro which includes a lamp, remover and removal wraps. Larger bottles of the remover are also available.

Ever Glaze by China Glaze

Last year at Cosmoprof North America, China Glaze shocked me with Gelaze and this year they've surprised me again. Coming in January 2015 to Sally Beauty Supply is the newest invention in the line of China Glaze products - Ever Glaze. Ever Glaze is a self fusing color lacquer that has a special top coat that does not take a UV or LED lamp to cure but the results are gel like quality with 7 day wear and removes with just normal acetone based polish remover.

Say what?

Let's try that again.

-It's polish.
-It lasts for 7 days.
-The self fusing top coat hardens like gel but without the use of a UV or LED lamp.
-To remove, just use normal acetone based polish remover.

Mind blown.

All 36 shades are brand new to the China Glaze line (no matchy matchy colors like the Gelaze + China Glaze collections) with a new bottle shape. The brush, however, is currently the same as China Glaze (although that may change).

No color names have been released at this time but it's just a matter of time now that the cat is out of the bag.

The above photo is the salon display for Sally's (not final mock up, so yours may look different come January 2015).

LOOK AT ALL THE PRETTIES.

And a final display of the polishes.

So what do you think? For those who have heard of CND "Vinylux" (hello, I just posted a water marble with it) or Young Nails "Caption", this is the same concept. Gel like quality from a lacquer without the harsh removal process.  Makes me happy.

How about you? What are your thoughts on it? Stay tuned to PolishGalore for more show coverage of China Glaze and Cosmoprof North America 2014!
