Color Club Artsy Crafty

Lately I've been ridiculously "Artsy Crafty", mostly working on cross-stitch projects but that can be talked about another time.  :] (Or just go to that link to see.)  Today's Color Club is from the Back to Boho Collection and is a dark pine green creme  Formula was good on this.  I used a base of Duri Rejuvacote, 2 coats of polish and a top of CND Air Dry.

Here in the sun you can see that this is a pretty dark and opaque green.  Frankly, I think it's beautifully pigmented but not my style.

You can see how lush it is in the shade as well.  Great for fall or for a base for some nail art or Konad.

Sorry for the slightly blurry indoors with the flash picture.  Not much else to say here.  If you're looking for a good formula, opaque and pigmented dark green creme, look no further!

Color Club Sugarplum Fairy

I'm so in love with Sugarplum Fairy from the 2011 Winter Color Club collection "Beyond the Mistletoe" that I've worn it twice already.  That's saying something.  I tried hard to snag a bottle when I was at Cosmoprof Las Vegas but they wouldn't let me take it.  But now you're MINE.

In the promo picture, the color looked lavender.  In person, the color looks much more silver but I assure you it's a lavender base with tons of holographic glitter.  I used a base coat of Duri Rejuvacote, 2 coats of polish and a top of CND Air Dry.  The polish formula was slightly thick and you'll see that application was a tiny bit patchy.  I don't care, I love this polish.

BOO CLOUDS.  Okay, so this color is pretty hard to photograph.  Because of all the crazy awesome glitter, it just looks better blurry.  I have some crazy blurry pictures here but I'm saving your eyes because they will just becoming obliterated.

Here in the shade you can see the purple much better.  And you can also see some of the splotchy/patchy parts.  I'd like to thin my bottle out a bit at another date.

Indoors with the flash: Middle finger is a bad patchy offender, but overall I really love this color.  I was able to wear this for several days before the polish started to chip on me and then I HAAAATED taking it off because it's so pretty!

Color Club Nouveau Vintage

I literally have 3 boxes full of polish that I have been needing to show you.  I pretty much skipped every fall collection, as they are my least favorite polishes when I see them, and then when I finally put them on my nails, I like them SO much more.  This has happened for three years straight.  LEARN, Krystal.

Jumping back to 2011 Fall, Color Club's Back to Boho collection included this "vintage frosty gold" - Nouveau Vintage.  I feel it's more of an olive with antiqued gold in it.  Well, close enough, right?  I used a base of CND Stickey, 2 coats of polish and a top of Color Club 0-60 Speed that was included in each 6 piece section of this collection.  (PS: It didn't dry in 60 seconds for me.  After 5 minutes, the polish was still dentable.)

Okay, what is this color?  It's like a base of reddish brown, and then a green shimmer and a gold shimmer layered on top.  But it's all in ONE color - just 2 coats of this stuff!  It's like a crackle coat has been built into polish.

Even close up, I just can't pin down WHAT this color is!  It's amazing!

Here in the shade, I'm just drooling.  Why did I wait so long to put this on?!

Indoors with the flash shows a bit more of that red undertone as well as all the shimmer on top.  I love you Nouveau Vintage.

Formula was a bit weird - not thin but a bit thick?  I had to make sure my brush was wiped well before putting a coat on.

Color Club Santa's Cinnamon

Christmas is coming up fast!  While I'm not sure I'd use this for a Christmas manicure, it's definitely in my running.  Color Club came out with Sally's exclusive scented polishes and I ended up grabbing Santa's Cinnamon because of the squishy glitter look and I love cinnamon.

I used a base of CND Stickey, 2 coats of polish and a top of Seche Vite.  Formula was quite good.  The smell was also pretty strong after the top coat dried (please make sure you let your top coat dry before smelling your nails).  I have a nail stick that I painted over a month ago and I can still smell cinnamon on it.

In the sun you can see it's a nice glittery red.  Nothing new to talk about.

Here in the shade - I love the squishiness of this color!

Same color?  Nope, this is Color Club Ruby Slippers.  Sure looks the exact same.

Back to Santa's Cinnamon indoors with the flash - very pretty color!  Removal was not an issue.

Color Club Cold Metal

Since I have a bunch of cloudy weather, I thought I'd go through my backlog of polishes, starting with the finale from the Foiled collection - Cold Metal.  This is a dark blue metallic which I thought I was going to hate but I really love this color!  Formula and application were super nice.

I used a base coat of Zoya Get Even, 1 coat of polish and no top coat.

Oh look, cloudy weather.  But check out how this polish pops!  This would be the best base for a Christmas manicure with some snowflakes - this is seriously a great staple color for my collection for fall/winter.

Even in the shade, this picture is just super lovely.  I'm shocked at how much I love a blue.

Indoors with the flash.

Best part of this polish?  It didn't smurf my fingers or stain my nails when I removed it.  WIN.

Color Club Perfect Mol-ten

Just two more in the Foiled collection and this is Perfect Mol-ten, a green metallic foil.  It's a bit of a cross between a mint and a forest green.  Formula was very good.

I used a base of Zoya Get Even, and 1 coat of polish.  I did not use a top coat.

In the sun, you can see the reflective surface of this polish - great for stamping in Konad so I've heard.

In the shade, you can see the color a bit better... I think this could be a great Christmas color.

Finally a slightly blurry indoors photo with the flash.  Not my favorite but not a bad color.

Have a great Thanksgiving week to all my American friends!

Color Club Hot Like Lava

I don't know why, but this Color Club color Hot Like Lava keeps making me think of the Maroon 5 song "Moves Like Jagger."  I don't get it.  If the song is now stuck in your head, I'm sorry!  Hot Like Lava is a red metallic foil from the Foiled collection.  I originally hated this - thinking it was too much like the rest of the metallics out there.

I used a base coast of Zoya Get Even for my ridges, and just 1 coat of Hot Like Lava.  I did not use a top coat.  This polish was a little on the thick side but I used as thin of a coat as I could and it was completely opaque.

Okay, so this color is a lot more pink than I originally though - and surprisingly, I really like it!  It just pops on the nail, and I enjoyed wearing it.

I felt like I had mild lobster hands in the shade but still - look how smooth the formula is on my nails!

Finally indoors with the flash - hot color.  LIKE LAVA.  *ahem*

If you had to get a color from this collection, I'd say get this one.  I'm a big fan.

Color Club Antiquated

Going back to the Color Club Foiled collection, and today is Antiquated, a light gold metallic.  This color is definitely not unique but seems necessary in a collection of foils/metallics.  :]

I used a base coat of Zoya Get Even, 1 coat of polish and did not use any top coat.  I do love that this collection is all one coaters and I have read that they are great to use as Konad polishes.

Here it is in the sun - you can see that with these metallics, they love the sun, and therefore are a bit hard to photograph.  The actual polish has some shimmering qualities to it as well, which can be left after cleanup.  Just wash your hands well after the polish has dried to remove any polish from your cuticles.

In the shade, the base color is a bit more clear, as you can see it's a light gold.

Finally inside with the flash and not much else to say - lovely color, not unique, great formula.

Color Club Foil Me Once

Another from the Color Club Foiled collection is Foil Me Once, a pinkish lavender purple metallic.  I had icky indirecy sun this day, so I apologize for the darkness of them.  I used a base of Zoya Get Even to cover my ridges, and 2 coats of polish.  To keep the metallic sheen, I did not use a top coat.

Why hello indirect sunlight!  I like this color a lot better than the Lumin-icecent just because I think it goes better with my skin, but formula wise?  Perfect.  Metallics are pretty awesome things - normally opaque in 1-2 coats, have some shimmer to them... look futuristic.  Speaking of, I need to think of a Halloween costume as I'm now going to a party (bleh, I'm not one for Halloween, to be honest).  Any thoughts?

And this indoors with the flash - I was trying to put some cuticle oil on too so that's why my pinkie looks super shiny.  Speaking of shine - look how shiny these nails look!  No top coat!  Really!

Color Club Lumin-icecent

I'm jumping all over the place again and today I have Color Club's Lumin-icecent from the Foiled collection.   This was a group of metallic colors that are very reminiscent of the China Glaze Khrome or Romantique collection.  As with metallics, they will show every ridge or dent in your nail (if you have them like me!).

I used a base coat of Zoya Get Even, 2 coats of polish and I decided to go without a top coat because I loved the shine that these colors produce on their own.

So this was before a manicure - can you tell?  My cuticles were horrible, especially my middle finger!!!  I love the base color of this blue - it reminds me a bit of Zoya Crystal - without the gold.

I'm not sure how I feel about metallics.  I think they are pretty awesome but they are also awesomely shocking on the nail.  I like the idea of toning it down with glitter, crackle/shatter or even some Konad.

Indoors with a flash - kinda fail on this one.  But at least you can see that metallic blue ... and a bad polishing job.  Hah, seriously - fail Krystal... fail.
