Roaring 20s Manicure!

Press Sample

Happy 2018! Did you do anything fun on New Year's Eve? This year, we had a Roaring 20's party at work and originally I hadn't planned on getting dressed up but then something sparked in me and thank you Amazon Prime - I got all glammed up.

The Polish Convention NYC Spring 2017

Nothing To Disclose

Hey everyone! Sorry it's been so quiet on my end. I had been focusing more of my attention to social media, especially Instagram because last month, I went to NYC for PolishCon! While there, I got to watch over 34 brands do their hustle to sell beautiful multichrome, holo, creme, and glittery polishes to over 650 people who walked through the doors of the Grand Prospect Hall.

JulieG Tropical

Nothing To Disclose

If you love ipsy, then you may just recognize the next shade here! Today I grabbed JulieG Tropical, a matte neon turquoise/mint polish from the May 2016 five piece release. If you're an ipster, this was also included in a limited edition bottle but I purchased mine straight from the website.

Sinful Colors Feeling Lucky?

Press Sample

Glitter topper polishes - love them or hate them? Either way, they are an instant way to get nail art to your nails. Today I have Sinful Colors Feeling Lucky? a limited edition polish in stores now. This polish has bright green microglitter in 2 sizes, lime green round glitter and gold 4 leaf clover glitter all suspended in a clear base.

I decided to layer one coat of Feeling Lucky? over JulieG Gelato in Venice. The microglitters and round glitter applied properly but I had to fish around for a gold 4 leaf clover that I placed on my ring finger. Unfortunately, my ring finger is more curved than I thought so the glitter stuck up and caught on everything before peeling off. I topped all layers of polish with Glisten & Glow H K Girl top coat.

I really like how well the different sizes of glitters play off each other and how well they applied in one coat. My only downfall was using the 4 leaf clover on my ring finger instead of my middle finger (which is more of a flat nail).

Sinful Colors is available at major drug and mass market stores nationwide for $1.99, or online at www.sinfulcolors.com. Join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram.

JulieG Romeo

Welcome to Day 2 of the 14 Days of Valentine's! For Valentine's Day 2014, JulieG and Jesse's Girl paired up to make "The Perfect Pair." One JulieG nail polish was created to match a Jesse's Girl lipstick. While lipstick isn't really my jam, you know I had to get all the nail polishes. Today I have Romeo, a coral creme which was paired with Juliet, a coral lipstick.

I used a base coat of Duri Rejuvacote, 2 coats of polish and finished with Glisten & Glow H K Girl top coat. The first coat of polish was a little on the thick-streaky and I got worried. Thankfully the second thin coat self leveled perfectly and I had little clean up to do.

Happy little coral polish. This is a little bland for me because I'm wanting to go all sparkly but I have to be semi-office appropriate right now. I may still end up using some kind of glitter over this next time I wear it just for a little happier time for my nails. As you can see, I had to nubbin again. I was getting the corners caught and tearing my nails and that's always a bad time for everyone.

Sadly, Romeo is currently out of stock and not listed on the website but you might find a back up somewhere online.

You can purchase JulieG in Rite Aid stores across the US or shop online at Jesse's Girl Cosmetics which ships worldwide!  JulieG sells for $3.99 for a 0.35 fl oz (10 mL) bottle.

JulieG Cruise Collection on Groupon!

Affiliate Link

YAY! I had a little birdie tell me that the new JulieG Cruise collection was going to be on Groupon and now here they are!  For the next week, you can purchase all 6, SHIPPED (in the USA) for $12.99. That's a fantastic deal.

Edit: Yesterday when I went to check out, the price was $12.99 with free shipping. This morning, I was shown shipping was $2.99 but no tax. Right now I was showing shipping of $2.99 and tax of 99 cents. So it's not $12.99 shipped - there is shipping and tax based on your location.

The fantastically love Leslie from work/play/polish provided all the swatches and a review on her blog - in case you wanted to see more but don't let this deal sell out before you get yours!

The Groupon Link is my affiliate link where I will earn $10 in "Groupon Bucks" if you click my link, subscribe to Groupon and make your first purchase.

JulieG Frosted Gum Drops Holiday

Texture has been all the rage in 2013 but one thing that has kept me from buying all the polish is the price. Not the case with JulieG Frosted Gum Drops by Jesse's Girl Cosmetics!  This holiday season, they are coming out with 6 more jewel toned shades and the price? Only $3.99 each. They just recently held a pre-sale on their website where all 6 was only $20.01 but sadly that ended on Friday.

So where else can you find these awesome polishes? Rite Aid stores.

Shout out to the amazing photography and hand modeling done by Leslie Henry of work/play/polish. I got to meet her this summer and she's an absolute inspiration to me in the blogging world.

Let's see the polish!

#31DC2013 Day 2: Orange Nails

Happy Labor Day to all my USA friends! I literally spent the day doing labor, but what can you do.  Today's challenge was "orange nails" and I had a hard time finding an orange in my stash that I wanted to wear today!

I ended up going with the Jesse's Girl JulieG Beauty Guru as my base. This was part of the original JulieG launch before they got their own bottles.  I started with Cult Nails Get It on for my base coat, 2 coats of polish and Cult Nails Wicked Fast as my top coat.  Then I tried to get overly ambitious with my ORLY Instant Artist water-based paints in Crisp White. I'm one of the new Nail Art Society Nail Art Gurus and these ORLY Instant Artist water-based paints will be in the new box that is coming out. I promise to write more about that later - but I have to say it was really easy to use.

Day 2.

Trying to use my new point-and-shoot camera. It's a Canon PowerShot A4000. I bought this to replace my beloved PowerShot A2000 which broke on the bottom earlier this year.

I think every thing went well until I got to my pointer finger and then I got crazy and it was bad.  But hey, working on it just means I have somewhere to go up!

JulieG Tokyo Nights

Hello lovelies! I am getting ready for family photos but I wanted to share this stunner with you from JulieG - Tokyo Nights! This deep blue creme was a part of the expansion release of JulieG colors earlier this year.

Now I'm not normally a fan of blues and I'm always scared they are going to stain, so I decided to use one of my trusty Cult Nails Get It On and paint on one coat. It was SO pigmented that I decided to stop there, add some Cult Nails Wicked Fast and clean up the edges. This polish did run into a few of my cuticles but I also was a bit out of practice on wearing nail polish so you can also blame my unsteady hand.

Now, you may see a little VNL line here in the bright sun but I didn't see it while wearing the polish. I was really surprised at how pigmented it was, and am always glad to have that in polish. I don't have time to add layer after layer after layer and then wait for them all to dry - no thank you!

I tried to get a shot indoors but my nails were so shiny that you just see lots of background reflected in my nails (sorry!). I only wore this polish for about an hour but thankfully in that hour I didn't have ANY staining. That was such a relief. I don't wear polish for days at a time when I just can't make up my mind so I like being able to have clean naked nails. (Not totally naked because I always wear base coat on my nails to help keep them protected.)

So overall, if you're looking for a true pigmented blue, pick this up! The application is awesome and the price is always right with JulieG.

You can purchase JulieG in Rite Aid stores across the US or shop online at Jesse's Girl Cosmetics which ships worldwide!  JulieG sells for $3.99 for a 0.35 fl oz (10 mL) bottle.

JulieG is on Groupon!

It's true! If you missed out on the JulieG Gumdops pre-sale or you don't live near a Rite Aid, Groupon has an amazing deal for you.  All 6 polishes are now available for $12.99 + $2.99 shipping.  If your purchase is over $15, then shipping is free.

I have my own Groupon Affiliate Link here. Using this link will earn me $10 in Groupon Bucks (to be spent on Groupon) if you purchase something over $10 within 72 hours of you signing up for Groupon.

If you'd rather purchase JulieG Gumdops without my affiliate link here is the page for that.

Either way, you can't go wrong with this price!  Speaking of, the price was strictly set by Groupon - Jesse's Girl had no control over how much Groupon was going to price this collection.

JulieG Light It Up

The finale from the JulieG Holiday collection is this glitter bombshell called Light It Up! I decided to layer it over JulieG Ornamental - fun times. Lots of glitter in this one - this is 2 coats.

I got a little sloppy on my middle finger and well I just don't know what happened. I feel like I was channeling a Jenna Marbles drunk video or something.

Random door shot - yay! So gold was not the best color to layer this over I don't think, but it's still fun. I know there are dupes for this and honestly I probably own them all. Still working on purging. Kinda.

You can purchase JulieG in Rite Aid stores across the US or shop online at Jesse's Girl Cosmetics which ships worldwide!  JulieG sells for $3.99 for a 0.35 fl oz (10 mL) bottle.

JulieG Ornamental

Only two lovely polishes left in the Holiday Collection from JulieG and this is Ornamental, a gold shimmer. Now granted, I have lots of gold shimmers and gold honestly isn't my thing. But it's not always about me - it's about the polish. I used a base coat of Poshe and 2 coats of polish. Again, no top coat because I wanted to play with these polishes quickly.

So I'm a bit lame and only got a sun (kinda) photo but you can see that it's a pretty, full coverage polish in just 2 coats. Super lovely, the price is so right at $4, and well, if you're into gold shimmers, here's a great one!

You can purchase JulieG in Rite Aid stores across the US or shop online at Jesse's Girl Cosmetics which ships worldwide!  JulieG sells for $3.99 for a 0.35 fl oz (10 mL) bottle.

JulieG Gift Wrapped

I thought I lost my notecard with my notes on this polish but as I was cleaning, I found it under my desk. So let's talk about JulieG - if you haven't heard, the core line of polish was just extended, adding 27 new polishes! I will have more information on those in the coming weeks (or days, depending on how productive I am!) but you can always check out the Jesse's Girl website.

JulieG Gift Wrapped is from the JulieG Holiday Collection and it's a magenta shimmer stunner. I used a base coat of Poshe, 2 coats and no top coat.

It reminds me of the lovely shimmers from China Glaze Summer Days  - full coverage and super lovely.

It's like shade and more shade here - these photos are a bit old (oops). I've noticed that I need to moisturize my cuticles daily, so I've been keeping cuticle oil everywhere.

It's funny but I've been loving taking pictures in this spot - and it's a random spot!  It's my front door! I want to paint a Celtic knot of motherhood on my front door but then I'd love this lovely photo spot.  Decisions.

So this polish is pretty awesome - it's formula is super smooth, fast drying time and no need to add a top coat for shine (although I like to add a top coat for strength and lasting power of my polishes).

You can purchase JulieG in Rite Aid stores across the US or shop online at Jesse's Girl Cosmetics which ships worldwide!  JulieG sells for $3.99 for a 0.35 fl oz (10 mL) bottle.

JulieG Holiday Collection

I've posted a few of the new JulieG Holiday Collection photos so far and will be sharing the rest this month - I'm super happy for Light It Up, a cheaper alternative to other bright multi-colored glitters that are coming out this year!

Light it Up (multi-color glitter top coat)

JulieG Under Mistletoe

Day 2 of the JulieG Holiday Collection - Under Mistletoe which is a mint green shimmer.  This color was a bit of a mystery to me.  I thought it was almost duochromed with a hint of blue but nope!  I used a base coat of Poshe and thought maybe I could get away with one coat but this color is much lighter on the nail.  Two coats of polish gave me more opacity (still not perfect) and lots of shine so I did not use a top coat.

You can still see my VNL (visible nail line) on my nails so I think I should have gone with another coat to make this more opaque.  It's almost a great wintergreen Christmas tree green.

Here in the indirect light you can really see my nail line.  It's very glaring for me, so I think I'd use this polish with a different French tip (like the Ornamental gold metallic or the glitter Light It Up).  Not my favorite, but really not a tosser either.

JulieG Big Red Bow

Today launched the new JulieG holiday polishes!  I was given the opportunity to check them out and man, I'm happy.  This was my absolute favorite one by far - Big Red Bow.  I used a base of Poshe, 2 coats of polish and no top coat.  I didn't need top coat - this shimmery red was perfection.

Sadly, I didn't have any sun on the day that I went to swatch these lovely (I have the whole collection to show you this week!) polishes but can you see that shimmer?!  And look how perfectly it applies!

Meanwhile in some indirect light, you can just see the love.  It's probably has a dupe, I'm sure but right now I'm just keeping it on my desk to love.  I also really want to use this as a base for some nail art!

The formula was absolutely a dream to work with - no pooling in the cuticles or bald spots.

To see more of the JulieG Holiday Collection, head to the Jesse's Girl Facebook page and click on the tab that says "JulieG Holiday Collection" (under the cover photo).  You'll also be able to enter in Jesse's Girl Cosmetics's giveaway to win a complete set of the Holiday polishes!

JulieG Julie's Fave

After getting my Shellac off, I decided to pull out JulieG's Julie's Fave, a melon pink creme that is neither too bubble gum or Barbie pink and doesn't go off into the neons either.  It's a very pretty shade for the office or just for a night out.  I used a base coat of Poshe, 2 coats of polish, and a top of nubar Diamont.  The formula was nice on this polish - not too runny, not too thick.

Here in the summer sun, the color almost pulls neon, but I promise you it's not.  I think it goes well with many skin tones, mine included!

Meanwhile in the shade, you can see how this color just lays beautiful, no streaks or anything.  I wasn't able to get a good picture indoors with the flash - too much caffeine in my system or something because I was not able to stay still.

A great staple add to your collection if you're looking for a nice melon creme.
