Mark Cuban Named 2014 PBA Business Forum Keynote Speaker

Mark Cuban Named 2014 PBA Business Forum Keynote Speaker
Sunday, July 13, 2014 | Mandalay Bay Resort | Las Vegas, Nevada

The Professional Beauty Association (PBA) is honored to announce famed businessman, TV personality and Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban, as the keynote speaker for the 2014 PBA Business Forum held during PBA Beauty Week. Hosted by Cosmoprof North America (CPNA), PBA Beauty Week is North America's largest, most inclusive beauty event, offering unlimited networking, education and business-to-business opportunities to all sectors of the professional beauty industry. PBA Beauty Week will be held at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, July 13 - 15, 2014.

After graduating from Indiana University, Cuban moved to Dallas, TX and created MicroSolutions, a computer consulting service. He went on to later sell MicroSolutions in 1990 to CompuServe.  In 1995, he and long-time friend Todd Wagner came up with an Internet based solution to listen to Hoosiers Basketball games in Texas. That solution was Broadcast.com - streaming audio over the Internet. In just four short years, Broadcast.com (then Audionet) would be sold to Yahoo for $5.6 billion dollars.  Since his acquisition of the Dallas Mavericks in 2000, he has overseen the Mavs competing in the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history in 2006 - and becoming NBA World Champions in 2011. They are currently listed as one of Forbes' most valuable franchises in sports.  In addition to the Mavs, Cuban is chairman and CEO of AXS TV, one of ABC's "Sharks" on the hit show Shark Tank, and an investor in an ever-growing portfolio of businesses. He lives in Dallas with wife Tiffany, daughters Alexis and Alyssa, and son Jake.

The beauty industry is constantly growing and changing. The Professional Beauty Association (PBA) adapts to meet the needs of its members and the industry. Attend the 2014 PBA Business Forum to learn about key PBA programs and initiatives that are helping shape the future of the professional beauty industry.  The PBA Business Forum and breakfast will be held Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 7:00 a.m. with the keynote address following at 8 a.m.  Registration for PBA Beauty Week, which includes the PBA Business Forum, and Cosmoprof North America is now open. Let's just say I will NOT miss NAHA this year.

Mario Lopez to Host the 2013 North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) and Receive the PBA Beautiful Humanitarian Award

NAHA 2013 Awards Ceremony | July 14, 2013 | Las Vegas, Nevada

Phoenix, AZ (March 15, 2013) - The Professional Beauty Association (PBA), producer of the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA), is proud to announce renowned actor, author, entertainment journalist, producer and father Mario Lopez as the host of the 2013 NAHA Awards Ceremony.

In addition, Lopez will receive the 2013 PBA Beautiful Humanitarian Award during the Ceremony for his work with a variety of charitable initiatives. Lopez works to raise awareness and funds for many causes that support the positive and healthy development of children and young adults. A champion of many causes, Lopez's work as an Alumni Ambassador of Fitness with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), and as part of the organization's BE GREAT campaign, has continually helped bring to light the major issues affecting today's young people, including the importance of graduating from high school and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In addition to his work with BGCA, Lopez is a passionate supporter of other organizations, including Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Community Youth Athletic Center of Chula Vista, Jameson's Army, and Padres Contra el Cancer.

"It is my honor to be able to host the 2013 North American Hairstyling Awards, and I am very humbled to receive the Professional Beauty Association's Beautiful Humanitarian Award. Beauty professionals help others to look and feel their best, and I applaud their work and talents," states Lopez.

A man of many trades, Lopez is passionate about staying active and engaged with his fans and followers. He is the host of the nationally syndicated daily show EXTRA. Concurrently, Lopez continues his hosting duties on Fox's hit music series The X Factor. He is also the host of the soon to be nationwide Clear Channel radio show "On with Mario Lopez."  Not only does Lopez have a proclivity for the entertainment industry, he is also an avid sports fan. He has taken his love for sports, specifically boxing, to the next level as a recurring commentator on HBO Boxing, and recently produced a documentary based on the sport.

Lopez is a New York Times bestselling author for his healthy eating guide Extra Lean. In May 2011, he released the follow up to Extra Lean entitled Extra Lean Family. This new book features recipes and tips that are beneficial to the entire family. Additionally, Lopez penned Mario Lopez's Knockout Fitness, a bestselling fitness book that offers readers a look into his impressive workout regime, and Mud Tacos, a vibrant children's book he co-authored with his sister Marissa. As a follow up to Mud Tacos, Lopez released Mario & Baby Gia, a children's book he wrote for his daughter, Gia.

As the professional beauty industry's top honor, a NAHA is the pinnacle award to win, and the NAHA Awards Ceremony is the event of the year. States Looking to Deregulate Beauty Professionals

I am not a licensed cosmetologist but I have a tremendous appreciation for what they do. I don't cut my own hair, I don't wax my own eyebrows, I don't give myself manicures or pedicure... for each and every one of those services, I go to a beauty professional whether it's in a spa, a salon or a stand alone shop.

Five USA states have introduced bills to deregulate those in the beauty profession. This means that anyone can open a shop preforming beauty services, without the proper licensing and education. This is pretty appalling to me, as chemicals are being used and correct sanitation services are highly important between clients.

The five USA states are
-Indiana
-Conneticut
-South Dakota
-Utah
and my pride and joy that I call home, Texas.

Tabatha Coffey, along with the PBA are trying to get the message out to those professionals who are about to see their licenses mean literally nothing, that they can do something NOW.

You can get more information from the PBA here on how to get the word out, who to contact and how to get involved. Let's keep the professional stuff to the professionals! Nothing wrong with wanting to DIY but if I'm paying someone to do it, I want to make sure they are properly licensed!
