Announcing: Season 3 of Nail Files!

While I was at Cosmoprof North America - Las Vegas in last month, I got to sit down with Katie Cazorla and some of my favorite bloggers to talk about all things Katie.  She introduced the Color Flash System (review coming soon) and gave us all little Mini Nail Pods & two colors (which is FANTASTIC because I already purchased the full sized lamp & 4 colors so now I have 6!).  It was such an awesome dinner... I was seated between Karie Frost, Beauty Director for NAILPRO & Nail It! Magazine and Beth Livesay, Senior Editor at NAILS Magazine & author of Salon Fanatic. Can we say ultimate fan girl dinner?

Then she told us what's coming down the pipeline for her - not one, not two but THREE TV shows!  First off, the news I've been waiting for!

SEASON THREE OF NAIL FILES!

If you've been following her Instagram, she posted this bittersweet photo in April
"Thanks for a great 4 years TPN! On to a new look and new location! WOW! Long ASS day, not gonna lie! But very excited for tomorrow! #onward #bittersweet #innovate #nails4life" @ThePaintedNail

So what does this mean for Nail Files? Well you should know by now that Katie doesn't stand still. This fall, she will be opening a "nail lounge" inside the W Hotel in Hollywood!
It's OFFICIAL!! My new Nail Lounge is going into the W Hotel in Hollywood! Let the planning begin! Fall 2013 #nails #nailart #nailsalon #nailfashion #colorflash #cocktails @ThePaintedNail

I'm super excited because the W Hotel is a part of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts line, and I LIVE for the Westin and the aloft hotels in my limited but fabulous travels.  (Oh man, if I could get a Katie Cazorla Nail Lounge inside the Westin La Cantera in San Antonio... I'd probably move up there and beg to work there - not even remotely kidding.)

Other cool things to be looking for - Katie has a segment on beauty on The Real talk show on FOX - Looks like something else to go into my DVR!  The other is in production right now - think salon help from a gentler side. Until I'm allowed to say more, that's about all you're getting from me!
Catch up on previous seasons of Nail Files on Hulu here. Purchase the Color Flash system on Katie's website here. Don't forget to like Katie's Facebook Page here, the Painted Nail Facebook Page here, and then you can follow Katie on Twitter and Instagram as well!

Katie Cazorla Color Flash Instant Gel Nail

In February, I told you about Katie Cazorla, owner of The Painted Nail salon in California, and how she had created a new system called the Color Flash. What I didn't know at the time was that Katie was rebranding as well under her own name and officially closed The Painted Nail to work solely on this new endeavor!

The Color Flash Instant Gel Nail Color launched last night at midnight CDT on Shop NBC (Channel 73 on DirecTV) and is airing again several times today. I fell asleep last night during the first airing but was able to record it so I can watch Katie because she's one hilarious lady.
Myself, Katie and Judy from BeautyJudy at Cosmoprof North America 2012.

Color Flash - think salon quality but at home. Think gel but only one step. Think instant removal but no acetone. Mind blown yet?

Image from ShopNBC

Here are the two different lamps. The smaller LED POD is perfect for travel and charges via USB - perfect for the on the go woman like Katie.  Because it's LED, the cure time is 60 seconds. The LED POD sells for $39.50 at ShopNBC.

Image from ShopNBC

The larger LED lamp is only available as part of the ShopNBC Color Flash Nine-Piece system. Normal price for the nine-piece system is $108 but today they are having a special 17% off for $89.27.  This includes the LED Lamp (with 12V 0.5A AC adapter), three colors (Perfect Nude, Bordeaux and Classic Red - 0.28 oz each), a buffing block, a nail file, a metal cuticle pusher, "Gone in a Flash Remover Gel" (2.11 oz) and three removal wrap packs (10 wraps in each pack).

Currently, the colors are only available on the ShopNBC website. She has 6 duo sets (0.28 oz each) for $28.00. Unlike gel, Katie's system is an all in one bottle. No base coat, no top coat.  Prep your nail, add one coat of color, cure for 60 seconds (the light automatically shuts off after 60 seconds), then add a second coat and cure for 30 seconds (you'll have to manually time that one out). Then you're done! No sticky layer to remove, no wait time.

Katie says this will last 10-14 days but if you want to change out, removal is easy. Gentle break the seal using the nail buffer, apply her "Gone In A Flash" remover gel to each nail and cover with the foil wraps. Let sit for 5 minutes and the color will flake off. Use an orange stick to remove any left overs.

Please note that all links in this posting are straight from ShopNBC. I was not paid to post the links, nor are they affiliate so I will not receive any kind of compensation if you click on them.  The pricing is special for today, and I do not know how long it will be available.  I believe Katie is planning to eventually sell the product on her website along with other products, but that has not been confirmed yet.

If you're looking for salon quality without having to go to the salon, I would take the chance and invest in this kit. Katie is very dedicated on only putting out quality product that is practical in today's world and market.  Congratulations Katie!

The Painted Nail Color Flash Nails

First thing in the morning, I check my Instagram for what's going on in the world of pictures. Lately, I've been noticing something new and super interesting from The Painted Nail - Katie Cazorla.
[All images courtesy of Katie's Instagram]

Katie is launching an "instant nail color" system at ShopNBC, and the concept sounds amazing.

"The Nail Pod fits in the palm of your hand, throw it in your make up bag, plug it into your iPad, laptop or go wireless! No primer, bonder, base, top or cleanser!! Just one swipe of color and in under 60 secs, you're out the door! Odorless and removes without Acetone!! Wears like a gel, goes on and off like a polish!"

"Here's the LED light that comes in the Color Flash Kit! Complete with dual USB/wall charger and a little bow with a crystal accent for the button (timer built in)."

"The bottom pops off by magnet so you can cure your toes lightning fast or custom mix your Color Flash with glitter, powders etc."

Now for the colors!  All these duo kits will be under $25.

Jade and Coral
Blush and Noir
Margarita and Citrine
St.Tropez and Monaco
Hot Peach and Bright Violet
Starlet and LaLa Land
The original images all had a launch date of March but last week, Katie posted the following:

"GREAT NEWS!!!!!!! My 'Color Flash' Instant Gel Nail Color Kit (3 colors) with Led Light and non-acetone remover paste just got approved today on ShopNBC to be the "Today's Top Value"!!!! You'll get an incredible price on a new, fun, easy and safe product for your nails! You Deserve This!! Coming 4/30"

No word yet on how glitter removal worked with a non-acetone remover... and no base, no top? Sounds like Layla's concept but I've never been brave enough to wear a dark color without a base coat. I love the concept of a gel that removes like polish - I hate that most gels have to have the top layer filed off to "break the seal". (Granted, not ALL gels, but a good percentage.)

I'll have more as soon as I get it, and follow Katie's Instagram for the most up to date news!

In The Salon
Katie is having a party with booty parlor products [Website | Facebook | Twitter | YouTube] and has invited a small select group of staff to join.  Can you smell the disaster about to happen?  Add a stripper pole, some crotchless panties and a drunk Joyce and watch the fireworks.  Katie calls Joyce up to her office to explain and Joyce could care less.  This girl is just asking to never be hired again - anywhere.

Katie is looking at franchising!!!  I think one would do amazingly well in Austin, Texas but even that is too far away from me (4 hours).  However, you know I'd go to it!  I don't know if there is a Painted Nail Miami yet - haven't played with Google yet.

Celebrity Sighting!
Alex and Donya but who are they?  My Google search resulted zero results.  Anyone else know?  Edit: I think they may be the twins behind Condition Culture?

In Katie's Life
TV Guide has offered Katie the opportunity to do some stand up on their new show Standup in Stilettos.  Katie did some stand up when she first moved to LA so this was right up her alley, but she hadn't done any in awhile so this was going to be interesting.  She tried to start off with her nail salon jokes but Katie forgot the number one rule of public speaking... know your audience!  So she started some improv off the crowd and it went much better.  During the real thing for TV Guide, she had a pretty decent time.  I haven't watched it yet myself, but I'm going to check my On Demand and see what I can find.

The Mish Mash
I do believe the yellow Louboutins that Katie wore to Standup in Stilettos were the ones she wore last year to Cosmoprof.  I could be wrong but I don't think I am...

In The Salon
Katie is having the party for the grand opening of the Hair and Makeup Bar with an Alice In Wonderland theme and from the promos last week, it looks like the party is going to be a big lights out.  I am with Katie on the Photobooth thing - you need a Photobooth to market.  Jin, you suck and Jim, thanks for calling him out.

So it's party time and when Katie realizes her "photobooth" (the photographer with a big printer) is putting out the logo the PRINTED NAIL, oh hey - the power goes out... because of the printer.  Oh but it gets better... the cops show up because a disgruntled neighbor doesn't want the smooth sounds of Kenny G.  The cops tell them to just pipe down a bit and the rest of the party is a hit.  Congratulations Katie!

Celebrity Sighting!
I spy Amy and her amazing cupcakes!  Go buy some cookies from her (she ships!) - you won't regret it.  Additionally there were a ton of people at the party - Sheryl Burke, Kenny G, Peggy (Housewives of OC)... and Katie's siblings!!!!

In Katie's Life
The comment about Katie's about "down the rabbit hole" for a pair of shoes...  So did she get her shoes?

The Mish Mash
Did those guys SERIOUSLY ask how to spell "LOVE"? And did they seriously spell it wrong?

Random, in case you missed it, Katie is now repping imPRESS nails - the commercials you see during Nail Files with Nicole Scherzinger.  Katie's favorite is the "color me" because they are clear and she's able to wear several different colors at once - super helpful when she's choosing new colors for her collection (speaking of, I bought Barbara, Marilyn and Coco - will be reviewing soon!).

Did anyone else feel like Katie was a little Snooki "Party's here."  I'm serious!!!  Snooki, season 1... Katie, this episode.  Someone mishmash it for me.

I can't wait until next week - looks like I have more Joyce time.

Nail Files: Pageants & Parties & Plumbers, Oh My! Breakdown

Okay, seriously, I don't know what's wrong with my DVR, but I'm slightly angry (#firstworldproblems). First it didn't record Nail Files because "no new episode was airing" (uh what?), and then when it was time for the repeat at 11:00 CST, the episode was showing the information for Episode 2 when this is clearly Episode 4. Come on DirecTV, you're killing me here.

In The Salon
Katie is hosting a party but Jin (the sponsorship guru) is not able to secure any money/sponsorships and Katie is going to have to dish out $10k.  Girl, that's like... a lot of months of work for me.  Sponsorships are definitely important when you're hosting a party.  With just a few days to go, Katie has to really kick it into high gear to get this party started ('on a Saturday night?') but then....

So above the shampoo bowl (are you kidding me?), the bathroom is leaking and a huge water bubble is puckering.  The girls have the bright idea to just pop it, but thankfully they call Katie first who thinks to call a plumber... who fixes the pipe but then leaves a hole in the ceiling.  Katie pulls in some awesome barter skills to get a contractor there TODAY and he pulls through.  No more worrying that your face will be covered in sewage while getting your hair washed.  (Ugh, I'm shuddering at that thought.)

Joyce - man I don't know what to even think about you.  Long story short, after apologizing to Katie for walking out last episode, she then texts Anna and gives a 2 week notice.  Hey real worlders: don't give your 2 week notice via text message.  It's a great way to be blacklisted from other jobs, especially when you do it and you're being filmed for a reality show.  Seriously?

Celebrity Sighting!
The amazing people of Quigley-Simpson.  They are seriously know what they are doing and I am so glad that Katie was able to meet with them.  They have worked with Chase, Oral-B, Olay, & Jillian Michaels to name a few.

In Katie's Life
In case you forgot, Katie was judging the Gold Coast Toddler's Pageant, and one of the pageant coaches was after Katie because she wasn't doing his niece's nails the way he wanted them (French tip).  Enjoy your 15 minutes dude, I'm sure it was worth it.  Meanwhile, the pageant is in full swing and Katie has said what a lot of us are thinking and it rhymes with "mutty."  Oh and time for the zinger - Katie deducted for French manicures on the kids.  HAH!  Can I high five you please?

The Mish Mash
Katie, what is up with the smashed iPhone screen?  You need an Otterbox, fast.

Ah!!! Okay, so while I was at dinner with Katie, she showed us these 3D nails - and now on this episode she's TALKING about it!  Now, I know they were still in prototype in July but she had several designs in the works.  You can check my post here to see what she had set up - can't wait to see the final product!  (Also, you might recognize a certain someone in the pictures, but my mouth is hush hush on that part in case it's talked about later this season!)

Now I'm caught back up!  The episode that aired tonight was definitely one I was looking forward to... Katie is going to be at a beauty pageant for kids!  (Judging AND doing some free manicures!)

In The Salon
So where is the staff?  Lisa's father-in-law's had a stroke, Joyce is late (uh manager, what? Blame others, what?).  I'll tell you from this side, when my nail tech is running late, I'm not happy about it either.  Instead of just owning up, she gives Anna crap, and wants to quit.  Seriously?  Here's a life tip - nothing in life is "fair".  Deal with it.

Celebrity Sighting!
None this week.

In Katie's Life
Katie does it again and gets Walter to accept her new fur baby, Dolce.  I can't say too much - I got my "I don't want cats" fiance to agree to 6 indoors cats at the moment.  (Don't judge, I have a large house and 2 are just here temporarily.)  However, he's freaking out over the new dog that is poo'ing everywhere and he's trying to work.  Here's where the tv show and real life, start to blur.  That wasn't "made for tv fun" - that was a serious wall being breached and I feel bad that the cameras were rolling.  Thankfully, they were able to hash it out over the phone and are still totally in love.  I love watching them.

Meanwhile, Katie and Amy are going to be heading to Sin City, I mean Las Vegas, in her new wrapped smart car from stickercity.com for the pageant.  Katie rocks the night away in a VIP suite, with sparkly dresses, boys, and shots.  Okay, maybe it's the douche crew trying to feed her fruit... He didn't even know who Katie was - just probably saw the camera crew and got excited.  The day before the pageant, Katie decides to do some free manicures, but I'm shocked she brought colored polish... in the pageant world, it's all about stripper nails - Um, I mean French manicures.  She got told when a woman pulled out a nailene art kit and then a guy "with 9 pounds of makeup on" wants white tip, no glitter.  I feel like I'm in a bad comedy.  Doesn't help that he calls her a b***h to her face and plenty of times off camera.

I'm kinda irritated that the actual judging won't be until next week... TV Guide, I want hour long episodes.  Got it?  Good.

The Mish Mash
It's always fun when Katie can talk about blow and porn in a tv show.  I have yet to see her comedy routine but I'm thinking it's pretty blue.  And that's Katie - she's business when it's time to talk business but when she's having fun - it's a freakin' riot.

Additionally, Katie, I'm going to steal your sparkly purple Louboutins.  I know you're like a size 5, and I'm a 8.5 but I'll Cinderella-wicked-step-sister my foot into that thing.  DO WANT.

Nail Files: Katie in the Dog House Breakdown

In the second episode, which was also premiered on August 19th, Katie is still reeling from the Lisa Foot Scrub incident, but wait, there's SO much more!

In The Salon
Seriously Lisa?  When your boss could be sued for your actions, you seriously need to eat your pride and shut your mouth.  But this is reality tv, and she has a camera to listen to her.  Thankfully, the client felt better when she got home so crisis averted.  But Lisa is still all hopped up after Anna changed her schedule "and flavoring her friends" and is now mouthing off... again.  If your boss says you're like sand in your girly bites - well... let's say that's not what you want on your resume.

Meanwhile, Katie has decided to name a Sunday Manager for the hair salon (Joyce) and is met with blank stares.  Granted, it was pretty unexpected but she finally says thank you but the deer in the headlights look made for some awkward tv.  Please don't blow it, but I'm sure you will.  (Great.)

To celebrate her 3rd year of the Painted Nail, and to launch the hair/makeup bar, Katie decides to throw a party and how!  Katie has some crazy ideas but that's what party planners are for (even if they want to take $14,000 of your money).

Celebrity Sighting!
None this week.

In Katie's Life
Sad news, Sugar crossed the Rainbow Bridge in between season 1 and 2, and Katie's other dog Pookie is feeling the loss.  Walter and I are on the same page... let's get rid of the dog entirely.  Katie however, wants to go rescue another dog.  MAJOR props and thank yous for adopting instead of paying a breeder - Katie, you did good there.  While Walter is busy with business, Katie and her BFF Amy of Brown Sugar (nom amazing cookies & cupcakes nom) go and adopt the freakin' dog.  Walter is ticked.

A little foreshadowing - Katie will be working (and judging!) a kid pageant soon, and she's so ridiculously excited.  Somehow, I don't think Toddlers & Tiaras will be wanting to showcase her anytime soon and yet at the same time, I could see Katie having a pageant for dogs.  They are planning to take Katie's smartcar which is currently being wrapped in Painted Nail pretties.  I love smartcars.  I saw my first one in Europe back in 2005 and was obsessed.
Beep beep! The original smart fourtwo in Europe.

The Mish Mash
When Walter said being at the shelter was like being in a Sarah McLachlan commercial, I actually spit out my drink.

While Katie was talking to Anna about Lisa, I noticed two words on her computer... the first was Kowtow and the second was Wattle.  I don't know if Katie is doing a word of the day or what, but I feel more educated now.  Kudos.  And Namaste.

Nail Files: Foot Scrub Cocktail Breakdown

Image Courtesy of TV Guide Network Facebook Page
She's baaaaaaaack!  Katie Cazorla, owner of the Painted Nail in Sherman Oaks, California, is back for another season of her reality show Nail Files.  And I'm back with your episode breakdown.  (By the way, I know I never did the season finale of last season.  I was in denial that the show might be over so I refused to do a review.  When I heard that season 2 was officially ordered, someone had deleted it from my DVR.  I blame the cat.)

Now, not-really-a-spoiler alert, I got the opportunity to pre-screen this episode before it aired and let me tell you, I was laughing on the couch.  In fact, it was so good, that the fiance even stopped to watch it (and that's saying something, although I've gotten him to watch Teen Mom and Toddlers & Tiaras with me before too!).  Anywho here's what happened on Season 2, Episode 1 titled "Foot Scrub Cocktail."

In The Salon
So Katie decided to hire a brand new staff to help her with the salon.  Did someone call Tabatha?  She also got rid of the boutique she had next door (slight boo from me over here only because I heard she might carry GingerKittyDesigns there), added a hair salon and makeup bar and HELLO - she's working on a new location in Miami, Florida?! Um, time for me to go to Florida again.

By the way, Katie has two Annas now - Anna the Manager and Anna the Assistant.  I'm okay with her calling them AM and AA.  Just saying.

Lisa.  Oh Lisa.  You get your own paragraph.  Lisa is a Class C... for Crazy.  Not only does she constantly want to be the center of attention, but the girl doesn't understand that vegan and organic DOES NOT MEAN EDIBLE.  So yes, she feeds a client some foot scrub, and duh, the client gets sick.  When we had dinner with Katie, we told her we wanted a margarita minus foot scrub.  I thought Katie was going to throw nail polish at us.  ^_^  Lisa looks like she's going to be a bundle of trouble this season, so she may have her own subtitle in my breakdowns.  However, Anna the Manager should have jumped off her chair and said "OH HELL NO, we don't feed the clients foot scrub."

Celebrity Sighting!
This week's celeb was Marissa Jaret Winokur from Hairspray.  She's almost 40 (yes, 40!) but she looks absolutely amazing.  Although I have to say, I do not have nail polish on my 5 year old son but hey, rock on Marissa.  (In case you missed Marissa being pregnant, you didn't really.  They had a surrogate and Zev Isaac was born in July 2008.)

In Katie's Life
I had no idea that she had been with Walter for 7 years, but I hope that one day I get to meet him - you can see the love he has for her!  The ASCAP awards were the center of Katie's episode, and while she may not know exactly what it stands for, she knows it writes his checks and she'll let him Ascap that ass later.  (Thanks Katie, you always were punny.)

As with many photographed celebrities, Katie needs a new dress for the event and after a ridiculous "dress" fitting with a definitely now-unemployed stylist named Sam, Katie finds the perfect dress from Sassy.  At least my closed captioning thinks his name was Sassy.  I feel like Katie was calling him Sessy though.  Either way, they go, and it's a grand time.  Well, Walter may have some cold feet for the red carpet but Katie's a professional - she can lead the way.

The Mish Mash
Looks like this is going to be a crazy season - from the expansion, to the staff, Katie's life, and as I told you before, there's going to be a whole new Painted Nail coming from bottle designs to colors!

The Painted Nail Fall 2012

Image Courtesy of The Painted Nail Facebook Page
Last year, I was super excited to meet Katie Cazorla, owner of The Painted Nail salon in LA and star of the TV Guide reality show Nail Files.  It was great to get to know her and her story.  Well this year, Beauty Judy tweeted that we would be at Cosmoprof this year and she came back with "Let's do dinner again!"  You can pretty much imagine my shock (and squeals of delight) when Katie texted me and asked "So where's dinner?"  After a much frustrating day of phone calls, my miracle from Ninja Polish booked us at the Beach Cafe at Tropicana.

Dinner was fantastic, and Katie was able to talk a bit about what's coming up in Season 2.  Special thank you to TV Guide for allowing us to screen Episode 1 of Season 2, and while I can't tell you what happened, all I can say is DO NOT MISS THE EPISODE ON AUGUST 19TH!  I'll hopefully have some more teaser clips as time goes on, but seriously, it's hilarious.  One thing that I do love about Katie is that she is not prepped to say things, or staged... she's a comedian!  This girl is quick with words, so watch out.  (But always good humor, nothing bad or condescending.)

Somehow I missed the side of the table I was sitting so I'm borrowing from Kimberly!
Claudia from Chromatic Misadventures; me; Judy with Beauty Judy; Maria from Cult Nails; Kimberly from Libby's Pink Vanity; Gia with Bottles and Bottles of Polish; Sinead owner of Self Tanning Queen.

Yes, I look like a dork.  You can see my tights AND my bra.  I'm classy like that.

Bloggers unite!

So Katie had a BUNCH to share with us.  First was her set of nail jewelry (as seen on my pinkie).  They are small rings that fit above the knuckle to accent your nail.  This is a prototype so it may not look like this in the end but they were really cute!  They will probably run around $35 when completed.  Thankfully they fit snugly and did not slip or feel like it was going to fall off.  (My polish is OMG! Gorgeous by Painted Nail.)

Next is Katie's own line of "3D Nail Couture".  It's a set of false nails with the regular designed nails and then three accent nails that have been hand-created.  Katie felt inspired by celebrity manicures that she sees in LA that go for hundreds of dollars, but wanted something that had the elegance and chic look without the hefty price tag.

The best part of these is that you can use self-adhesive tabs and when you're ready to change, just peel the nail off, discard the tab, and you can reuse the nail!  These nails are made tough so you literally keep them until they get destroyed.  Price and release date not available by press time.

Here they are in a carrying case (final design not complete).

For the "bus tour" promotion of Season 2 of Nails Files, Katie is coming out with 8 new colors and 4 new "top coats".  Brace yourself.

The first row contains a red coral creme, followed by the perfect Louboutin red creme (Katie LIVES in Louboutins).  The second row is a neon yellow green, a neon orange, a neon pink, a neon purple and the PERFECT highlighter neon yellow.  I have never seen a yellow neon THIS yellow or THIS neon before.  Best part?  Katie said that these are opaque in fewer coats and do NOT need a white coat underneath to make them pop.  I do apologize for the scuffed look of the nail wheels... Katie received them THAT morning and stuck them in her purse and they got a little scuffed up.  The third row (second picture) contains the last color - a dark inky blue.  Her inspiration for this one was if someone opened up an ink pen and just pooled it across the table.

Now we have these top coats.  Okay, I know they don't look amazing here, but let me tell you.  The first is a crazy blue/green/purple glitter that contains the same type of ink found in US currency!  The second is a smokey purple/blue/green that contains the same type of ink found in passports.  The third is a pretty pink that is great for a princess look and the final top coat is a shredded iridescent bar flakie.  Please check out the closer pictures by Beauty Judy here.  The new line should be available in her online store in the next week or so.

One of the big surprises for me is that Katie is now representing imPRESS and Kiss nails.  She brought us a samples that I'll have to try out later.

The other BIG surprise for me was the announcement that Katie and nubar have amicably split ways.  Katie will still be using nubar products in her salon (and she does really love their products), but her own bottles will be changing completely.  Katie's inspiration was the old 1940s/50s perfume bottle - Hollywood romance if you will.
While they are still a 0.5 fl oz/15 ml, they are now rounded design but flat on the front and back - think American Apparel bottles (old design) but with a curve to the sides.  A crown is engraved on each top.

I was able to chat with Katie for a bit on a personal level, and it was really great to see that human quality that makes her so enjoyable to watch on TV.  She was telling Beauty Judy and I how she came home from work the other day and Barbra Streisand was just casually sitting upstairs with her husband James Brolin and Katie's fiance Walter.  Katie had a tiny fan girl moment and that's the stuff that I love seeing.  Yes, she is super poised and elegant, but she can fan girl out that Barbra is just chilling in her upstairs studio.  Word.

The other thing that I really respected was that Katie has told those with her that she does not want to be pinched/tucked/photochopped in her pictures.  We all know that photochopping (photo editing) is rampant in media, but Katie doesn't want to be one of those women that you see looking amazingly perfect in the magazine and then in real life you question if you're looking at the same person.  In today's world, that says something.  (Mind you, I think she looks amazing but we all see ourselves in different ways.)

Thanks Katie, for meeting up with us crazy bloggers and much love and luck to you for the rest of 2012!

Nail Files "Let's Do the Oscars!" Breakdown

While cleaning of my desk (long overdue), I found my breakdown of the episode "Let's Do The Oscars" originally airing on July 26, 2011.  You'll read it, right?  :]

Deam McDermott is supposed to drop by.  I don't know who that is right now (edit: I googled.  Hello hottie).

So Sundance didn't go well for Katie, but now she's going to try for the Oscars!  While I understand branding, I also want to side with Walter that sometimes spending a lot for the potential of a big turnout, may not be worth it.

Oh poor Nichole - you're doing too much!  I hope she works out - I love her hair too much.

I know Katie sounds bad at this point, but again BRANDING!  Speaking of, this blogger needs to write about her bottle of Painted Nail -cough-.

Omg - Foreshadowing the Spring collection?!  I don't know if the collection that is coming out is the one she is talking about since I don't know when this episode was taped.  (Edit: No, it's her 2011 Collection.)

Walter loves to clean?  This man is amazing.  So is that Shark vacuum.  I use Rainbow, personally.

Dang, so Katie wants to hire a receptionist, but not demote Nichole which makes everyone happy.

After commercial break, Katie finally is able to break up with her publicist.  She writes her final check and is done.  (Girl, you need someone like Y!)  Katie calls Walter and pulls up her contract and she was OVERpaying... Walter demands a stop payment for the check, which she does.

OH!  You're Tori Spelling's husband!  And uh, he also had some Girl Scout cookies - nom.

A bit more drama with this PR company.  Again, it's hard to discern exactly what happened over the many days (months) but bottom line: follow your contract and make your client happy!

The next breakdown will be the finale which has been sitting on my DVR this whole time.  I didn't want to watch it in case there wasn't a season 2, but there will be so I can watch now!  :]  (Don't try to understand my logic - I don't half the time.)

Nail Files - Season Two!

On February 13th, Katie Cazorla shared that Nail Files officially has been green lit for season 2! I'm stoked to watch - what about you?  Please enjoy the following press release from TV Guide!

TV GUIDE NETWORK'S ORIGINAL REALITY SERIES "NAIL FILES"
RETURNS FOR SEASON TWO

Executive Producer SallyAnn Salsano to Bring Viewers More Reality Drama with Series Star Katie Cazorla and Her Expanding Nail Empire

LOS ANGELES (February 13, 2012) – TV Guide Network has announced that it will bring back a second season of “Nail Files,” an original reality series from ratings juggernaut reality producer SallyAnn Salsano (Executive Producer of “Jersey Shore”). “Nail Files” launched in summer 2011 and delivered TV Guide Network’s highest ratings for an original series premiere. The second season, produced by Salsano and her team at 495 Productions, will feature series star and The Painted Nail salon owner Katie Cazorla. It is scheduled to air on TV Guide Network this summer.

“‘Nail Files’ quickly found a loyal viewing audience on TV Guide Network and became one of the most talked about new reality shows last summer among women,” said Allen Shapiro, TV Guide Network Chairman. “We are pleased to bring back the series with even more Hollywood celebrities, reality drama and intriguing characters.”

“Season two will follow the colorful escapades of Katie’s professional and personal life,” said SallyAnn Salsano, “Nail Files” Executive Producer and president of 495 Productions. “Expect a drama-filled, entertaining season that will give viewers a chance to see Katie in action as a businesswoman, nail industry trend-setter and bride-to-be.”

“Nail Files” follows the unpredictable and always exciting life of Katie Cazorla, a high-spirited nail salon entrepreneur living a fast-paced life in Hollywood. Season two of the series will star Katie, her fiancé Walter, and new and returning personalities in eight new original episodes.

“The second season of ‘Nail Files’ is well-timed to the expansion of my salon and many new developments in my personal life,” said Katie. “I hope to continue to bring viewers lots of laughs, while showering them with Hollywood glam, glitter, and of course, fabulous mani/pedis!”

Nail Files "Jersey Shore Up In The Painted Nail" Breakdown

I'm a bit behind in finishing my breakdowns of season 1 of Nail Files... after meeting Katie in July at Cosmoprof, I felt like my life was complete.  Okay, not complete - I still need to get a pedicure down at the Painted Nail... but still!

So after a sleepless night, I decided to clear out my DVR queue and realized I still had 4 episodes of this awesome wonderful show!  There has been zero word from TV Guide if or when a season 2 would air, so I'm not sure what's going on there.  Time to beat on the Facebook Wall of TV Guide Network!!!

In this episode, we had so much happening.  First, the girls from the Jersey Shore dropped in.  Considering that their reality shows are produced by the same SallyAnn Salsano, I'm not very surprised.  The Jersey girls hold nothing back from sex tips using Jolly Ranchers to toe licking (equally ew).

They did raise a great point though - where else can someone have such a relaxing experience?!  Not just the whole cocktails idea, but just a relaxing spa experience, and especially for the right price.

Walter Time!  I really want to meet him, just because he reminds me a cuddly teddy bear.

Tina.  Tina!  I think Tina has succumbed to Reality Show Syndrome.  She's single-handedly decided to "Save the Salon" from reality show drama.  Um fail!

So - next we had Amy's dog party.  Now, I think Amy is amazing - Katie raved about her baking, many times.  (Hey Katie, glad you enjoyed the funfetti!  I'll keep note of my raincheck for my nails!)  In case you didn't know, Amy has started her own bakery, Brown Sugar Marketplace - you can Like her on Facebook now!

More Tina drama as the episode continues.  I feel so bad for Nichole, the store manager.  She's really stuck in such a crap place.

Now I've never personally witnessed the drama that Tina has self-produced but holy cow.  The fake email, the fake clients... crazy doesn't begin to explain it!

By the way, I absolutely LOVE the rainbow organization of Katie's nubar polishes!

Back to Walter Time and Katie's attempting to bake.  dun dun dun!  Call on Amy!  (If she ever ships her cupcakes, I'm getting a dozen.  I just asked her if her cookies are available... I hope they are because they are extremely affordable.  Let's just say I spent a little over $200 on cookies as thank you gifts and well, my wallet isn't happy!)

Over to the Zoom Room for Austin's birthday party - that's Amy's 8 year old dog by the way.  They have gone all out - red carpet, pictures, podicures (polish), celebrity dogs.  Oh.  And humping dogs, and poo on the floor.  (Sorry friends, but I'm a cat person for sure.)

Back at the salon, cue the dramatic music because Tina has walked in!  This girl wants some serious camera time!  Okay, so it may not be as dramatic as I'm saying.  Reality shows need to show the "best" moments, and by best I mean the ones that you sit on the edge of your seat to watch.  (I have a degree in TV, really, so I feel qualified to say this ^_^).  Katie was pissed though - you can tell.  Oh, and then Tina resigns and gets haughty.  That's pretty real right there.

By the way, Katie does NOT act like she's perfect.  Hanging around her at Cosmoprof for the time that I did, really showed me how down to earth she is.  We even had this awesome little disaster at a restaurant and Katie was cool and calm about it - didn't complain at all (even when they overcharged her because somehow we miscalculated the cash we left behind).

Next week is the Oscars - which I've watched and will have the breakdown coming!
