Wet n Wild Hollywood Walk of Fame

Hello friends!  Sorry I've been a bit spastic - my 5 year old started school on 9 August... and then came home with a fever just one week later and was out for two days.  Gotta love kids!  During some fleeting sun moments, I decided to try out the new line of Wet n Wild polishes from Fergie... yes that Fergie.  I only bought this one - Hollywood Walk of Fame, a bunch of reflective stars and bar glitter in a thick clear base.

I started off wearing this over my essence stuck on you manicure but then decided I wanted to wear it over black (my staple - Sephora Black), and then attempted it on a bare nail as well.  This is THREE COATS of this lovely star glitter, and a top coat of Seche Vite.

Okay, so this polish is not good at just applying.  Instead, I did a lot of fishing around for stars and then trying to get them to lay on my nail.  I think the black looks best but my ring finger?  Hot mess.

I do love that while in the shade, you can see the magic that is those reflective stars.  I love them!  I think I'd be better off placing them on the nail with an orange stick, in a deliberate fashion, and then brushing on for the bar glitter.

And finally here in the indirect sun, you can see again that the stars are so clumped together - no bueno.  Otherwise it's a lovely polish!

The Fergie line of Wet n Wild is limited edition.  I purchased mine at Walgreens for $3.50.

Wet n Wild is located at a variety of drug and grocery stories.  You can use their product finder on their website.  They also have a Facebook Page & Twitter account.

Spoiled Ants In My Pants

I have a lot of nail polish right now, so I try to stay away from the stores but when I saw what looked a bit like deborah lippmann Ruby Red Slippers, I had to grab a bottle.  Spoiled by Wet n Wild is a CVS-exclusive line of nail polish - 72 colors in all & all Big-3 free.  They sell for about $2 for a 0.50 fl oz bottle.  The first thing that caught me was the brush.

It's wide and flat which helps me sometimes in painting but I know it's not for everyone.

This is Ants In My Pants, and I decided to test it out several ways.  On my index and middle fingers I have on China Glaze Adventure Red-y, then 2 cots of Ants in My Pants.  My ring finger is just 3 coats of Ants by itself.  My pinkie is 2 coats of Ants over 1 coat of Sephora black.  As you can see, Ants In My Pants is a large and small red glitter in a slightly black base.  I did not use a top coat.

I'm not sure if I like it over red or black better but I definitely do not care for this color by itself (ring finger).  It's just too sheer and I can't justify more than 3 coats, even if it is a $2 bottle of polish.

Here in the shade, I really think I love this color over red the best.  It really gives it a blood-red feel - great for Halloween!

Here's a shot in indirect sun.  Still loving it over red the best.  I used to only wear glitters over black but you just lose so much.

Finally indoors with the flash.

Additionally, here's a close up of the different layering options.

For $2, this really isn't a bad deal.  It's not a dead on dupe for the Ruby Red Slippers - there is a lot less glitter on the nail - it's a good alternative in a pitch.  Only real hassle is because this only sold at CVS, you have to live near one.

Swirly Duochromes Comparison

Check out this line up.  From left to right we have deborah lippmann Wicked Game, OPI Not Like The Movies, Sephora by OPI Mash Up, wet n wild Gray's Anatomy, and Zoya Adina.  This was a reader suggested skittle to see how they all lined up with each other.  Here's a couple more bottle shots for fun.

I did three coats of each polish - no base, no top coat.

Thumb: deborah lippmann Wicked Game
Pointer Finger: OPI Not Like The Movies
Middle Finger: Sephora by OPI Mash Up
Ring Finger: wet n wild Gray's Anatomy
Pinkie Finger: Zoya Adina

Yay for cloudy pictures...  BOO.  I do hate that I didn't have sun this day.

This is a shade picture - look how dark Adina looks!

And one indoors with the flash.

Overall?
Wicked Game and Gray's Anatomy are VERY similar.
Not Like The Movies had a silver glitter which made the polish look more foggy than the rest.
Mash Up has a green flash instead of purple.
Adina is a darker orchid purple with a yellow olive green flash.

Wet n Wild Rustic

After my frustration with Claire's, I decided it was time to try another brand for a bit.  I really love that Wet n Wild is only 99 cents for these bottles - it makes my wallet even happier.

Rustic is a brown gold shimmer that looked like it could be a really pretty color to wear in the evenings.  I used Seche Natural for my base, ONE COAT of Rustic (!), and a top coat of Seche Vite.  The formula was amazingly awesome - perfect coverage in one happy, even layer.

Holla.  This color almost looked a little orange brown in the sun than yellow brown, but it was still just so pretty to me!  I was really happy with this one.

In the shade, the shimmer dies down to a pretty little soft shimmer, almost like a wood grain.  Again, I couldn't be happier with this polish - I really want to go look at the rest of the line that it available in my drug stores.

Wet n Wild "Craze Collection"

Holy awesome, check out all these new colors!  At just $1.99, I'm so tempted to get them all!  It looks like they have one creme and one shimmer per color.

Wet n Wild Morbid

I remember Wet n Wild back when I was a teenager, but a lot has changed with this brand.  Surprisingly, they don't have as big of a following as I thought they would, despite their new marketing campaigns - better packaging, a Twitter account that is quite active - Facebook and MySpace, and then their official website has all been overhauled as well.  They also have a VIP program where you can apparently get free products and I'm guessing coupons.

The "Craze" collection came out in summer of 2009, but I'm a bit late to the party.  These bottles are smaller than your average China Glaze or Zoya (0.34 fl oz instead of 0.5 fl oz) but the price tag reflects it.  I only paid $1.99 for this (and I got another bottle to be reviewed later).  One bad thing with a small bottle is a small brush too.
I seriously thought this brush was going to be the death of me, but thankfully it wasn't that hard to work with!  I don't have petite hands, but I don't have huge man hands either - but the cap settled nicely in my hand.  Reminded me of a big crayon.

Wet n Wild is big 3 free, and it appears from a link on their website that they do NOT animal test - so those of you who are really big on that, yay for Wet n Wild!

Morbid is a dark green with teal shimmer in it.  It's definitely a unique color.  In the bottle it looked like dark moss green to me - like, it's been swimming in a scummy pond for awhile, but on the nail, it reminded me of a dark cousin of China Glaze Emerald Sparkle!  I used a base of Seche Natural, 2 coats of Morbid and topped it with a coat of Seche Vite.

Here's Morbid in the sun - the shimmer almost looks like a microglitter from here (remember all pictures are click-able to show full size 450x600).  You can really see that murky green in the bottle there.

Here on the side, you can see how it looks more like a dark cousin of Emerald Sparkle.  It's a nice vampy green that looks really different from each angle you look at it from.  I was a fan.

And a shade picture - I'm having a bit of an issue getting my outer pinkie polished as you can see.  I'm still learning ^_^

Overall, I was happy with this, especially knowing I only paid $2.  My recent Walgreens trip for the new Sally Hansen HDs ended up running me $50 for all 6 bottles and that's not fun to swallow.  I could definitely see this as a good wintery (or even fall!) night color.  I also would like to try some Konad with it someday!
