butter LONDON Pillar Box Red

Press Sample

I almost didn't make it today for my 14 Days of Valentine's. It's been another rough week so what better way to celebrate than with some butter LONDON? Today I have Pillar Box Red, a red-orange creme. I don't own a lot of butter LONDON polishes but I do love how they line up so pretty in their bottles. The black cap is a false cap that can be pulled off to reveal a smaller round handle.

I used a base coat of Duri Rejuvacote, 2 thin coats of polish and finished with Glisten & Glow H K Girl top coat. The formula was really nice - a little thin with the first coat and then totally opaque with the second coat. I got a little on my sidewalls but was able to easily clean up with red staining.

I still haven't gotten in to get my nails handled but I tried to file them bit and used my Weleda Cuticle Softening Pen. I'm hoping next week will be a little smoother so I can get a manicure in. This is a great red for not just manicures but I'm actually pretty interested in using it for a pedicure too!

Spring 2015 New York Fashion Week - butter LONDON

Now, some of you may remember that in September, I was on my way to my first ever New York Fashion Week but Baby Emery decided to pull out the stops and send me right back home before I even made it to NYC.

However, I did get the inside look for some of the hottest nail looks!Today I'm showing the looks from butter LONDON. (All images courtesy of butter LONDON)

butter LONDON Chuffed

Press Sample

I love happy shimmery polish. When butter LONDON announced their Lolly Brights collection for Summer 2014, I was happy to see such happy shimmery polishes.  Chuffed is a medium orange with gold shimmer.

I used a base coat of Cult Nails Get It On, 2 coats of polish and a top coat of Digital Nails Ain't Nobody Got Time For That.

Thankfully, two coats was all I needed for full coverage. The gold shimmer stands out quite a bit in the sun but you can still see the medium orange underneath.

Now in the shade you can barely see my nails at the tips but otherwise this polish is pretty fantastic. butter LONDON is definitely a more luxury brand for many people at $15 a bottle but they do have sales often at Ulta and online.

butter LONDON NYFW 2014

Fashion Week may have been covered in snow, but the nails were hot. I will be posting wrap ups this week from different brands, starting with butter LONDON.

I was pretty happy with all that butter LONDON put out this year. Lead Manicurist Katie Jane Hughes had some great ideas that translated well into the fashion world. I was especially excited to see sponged gradients, water marble and even a tweed design. I was not as impressed by the Lela Rose show, but hey - overall butter LONDON gets an A from me.

NYFW Spring Summer 2014 Round Up

I was actually very interested in New York Fashion Week this year. I even considered hopping a plane and going to watch! Instead, I ended up watching from my computer screen and even though it's come and gone (and London had theirs too), I thought you might be interested in some of the show highlights that I enjoyed.  (All images courtesy of the companies that they represent unless otherwise noted.)

CND
When I think of Fashion Week, I think of CND and how hard they work to create amazing designs. This year, they unveiled 36 unique designs at The Blonds Spring/Summer 2014 Fashion Show at MILK Studios in NYC.

butter LONDON
I didn't realize butter LONDON was hitting the US soil so hard but now I see it EVERYWHERE. This year, they launched their own exclusive Fashion Week shade The 444, a champagne glitter.

However, I felt like butter LONDON played it safe with fashion week - lots of nudes & matte top coats. One show that did get wild was the LIBERTINE show where lead manicurist Katie Jane Hughes, butter LONDON Global Colour Ambassador started with Union Jack Black and then added holographic foil & applied several colours to the nails includes crystals and studs and finally a small red pom-pom on the accent nails.

Morgan Taylor
I still need to share my brand overview on Morgan Taylor - both lovely fashion forward young women who are really digging in their heels with their brand. I was happy to see them at fashion week, such a young brand to have such a powerful position.

BUT THEN they also went the nude, light, and matte way. Rawr.

The stand out was the Betsy Johnson show (duh). Lead artist Danielle Candido created an "Aurora Borealis Mani" using a silver base of Could Have Foiled Me, layered with Adorned in Diamonds and finished at the tips with Sweetest Thing.

Zoya
Can't forget them! Zoya has been providing custom nail colors for their designers in recent fashion shows. Each designer nail palette was created in direct collaboration with Zoya Color Developer Rebecca Isa (who officially has my dream job). Once again, the designers tended to go with soft colors but the Peter Som set spoke to me most.

Zoya Edie (blue cream), Zoya Alexa (green cream), and Zoya Stella (peach cream). “The inspiration for the Peter Som custom trio was - Where land meets sea… - the serene marine blue represents the water, the vibrant green represents the lush plant life surrounding the water and the soft peach is the delicate first bloom of spring flowers. Eddie and Alexa are full coverage and very pigmented so that a shaded half-moon mani can be achieved; which is exactly how the shades were worn coming down the runway”.

There you have it! Hope you enjoyed my picks from Fashion Week!

So just yesterday I was telling you how much I loooove purple. So imagine how excited I was to hear that butter LONDON had this cute little collection of purples to celebrate the Royal Family!

On top we have Lillibet's Jubilee, a silver lavender foil metallic, on its side is Pitter Patter, an opaque, aubergine shimmer and finally on the right is No More Waity, Katie, a semi-sheer, greige lilac jelly glitter.

The three piece is available for $39 and is still available at Ulta.com and on the butter LONDON website

butter LONDON Pitter Patter

In the days leading up to Will and Kate’s 2nd wedding anniversary, butter LONDON introduces a limited edition Nail Lacquer, Pitter Patter - a gorgeous, opaque aubergine in celebration of the imminent arrival of the Royal Baby.

Pitter Patter is the third “royal inspired” launch for butter LONDON – they first introduced No More Waity, Katie, in celebration of the royal wedding and most recently launched the limited edition: Lillibet’s Jubilee, in honor of Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee.

butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in Pitter Patter will retail for $15 and is available now butterlondon.com

butter LONDON Knackered

Oh butterLONDON.  I've laughed at your $14 price tag for only 0.4 oz of product (compared to $5 for 0.5 oz of China Glaze) and I tried to avoid you for so long but I did finally break down and buy a few of you.  One was Knackered this multichromal glitter mess.  Yes, I did say mess.  A hot mess - but a mess nevertheless.  It's also thin so for my application, I used a base coat of my Sephora black (the cheap one for $1) and then put on 2 coats of polish.  I used a top coat of Seche Vite and this manicure lasted over 4 days.  I photographed on the last day, so I do apologize for the tip wear.  (PS: Love all the blue in the bottle.)

Okay so in the shade, you don't get much blue but you do get this half green, half purple with random multichromal glitter?

Craze shade picture!  The bottom looks black (very dark purple) and the top is green!  And the bottle is still blue.

More regular shade picture which shows half the nail as purple, half as green.  Winning.

Indoors with the flash?  Purple.  I don't understand you, Knackered.  But I like you.  A lot.

I like you so much, that yes, I gladly paid $14 for you and didn't look back.  Please tell your friends to leave my wallet alone.

I purchased mine at Nordstrom, but I know you can also find it at Sephora & Ulta or buy directly from their website.

NOTDs Posts

While I work on cranking out some awesome new polishes from brands like NCLA and Jesse's Girl Cosmetics, I wanted to share some of the recent "Nails of the Day" posts that I've been wearing to work.

7 March:  I wish I remembered what these color were.  I know that the white was a China Glaze older color and the pink was an OPI color.  I really don't care for French manicures but I was on my way to a job interview and needed something quick and classic.  It was cured with Seche Ultra V - UV Activated Top Coat and an older CND UV lamp.  I had this done by my manicurist locally who shapes my nails & cleans up my cuticles.

12 March:  I don't remember what hot pink I used here as a base (this is why I write things down normally!) but the glitter tips was from Mattése Elite Mon Amour.  You'll see a review of that later - promise!

18 March:  Here is butterLONDON Knackered which I had a hard time buying when I saw it on blogs.  No one seemed to show it in the best light - and honestly I don't feel like I am either.  I layered this over one coat of Sephora black (the general small bottles that they sell - I got mine for $1).  I really do love all that's going on here - the multichromed purple and green, the microglitter that almost seems holographic.  Love.

19 March:  From the Capitol Colours collection, China Glaze Fast Track was a great office nude with just a hint of shimmer from the microglitter particles.  You'll see a full review on this later.

20 March:  I bought a gram of SpectraFlair pigment from PaisleyPolish1 on Etsy.  Unfortunately, I apparently bought her last gram because the shop is currently closed.  I put about 4 small spoonfuls (using a nail stick) into a half bottle of Seche Vite, added some thinner (because my Seche was getting thick) and some BB ballz to be able to shake the mix up.  I'll have more of a post later but this is 1 coat of the SpectraFlair top coat over China Glaze Sea Spray.

23 March:  I'm really happy and excited about this manicure.  I used a base coat of Sephora black and then 2 coats of Shades of the Season "white" - a color that I picked up from cvs/Pharmacy over the winter break.  It was in a big tube of polishes and as you can see, the glitter shows up either as green or blue depending on the light.

26 March:  I can't believe I've never done a post on Cult Nails Iconic!  I've had it forever but just hadn't put it on.  The flakes get a bit lost in the red base, but it was still a great manicure.

29 March:  Finally I have the new JulieG Gelato in Venice, the new line of nail polish from Jesse's Girl Cosmetics.  This is a mint green creme that reminds me a lot of mint chocolate chip (minus the chocolate chips!).  Oddly enough I only had gelato once in Venice but it wasn't mint - I think it was strawberry.

1 April:  While opening the dryer to get my sheets out, I did this.  Granted this is my right hand but my nails have been getting in the way of my typing and other daily activities so super nubbins I go.

I haven't decided what color to put on my super nubbins but I'm almost thinking of neon.  Neon and nubbins work for me.  :]

Hope you've enjoyed my NOTD!  If you follow me on Instagram (PolishGalore), you've seen all these already, and sometimes I post them on Twitter as well!  :]
