Sally Hansen Out of this Pearl

I have another Sally Hansen Miracle Gel™ polish today - Out of this Pearl. This a frosty rose gold polish.

ella + mila everglow

Another soft and sweet polish from ella + mila today with everglow. This is a holographic pearl shimmer that has a lot of pink tones.

Zoya Angel

Press Sample

Back in the day, Zoya was one of my biggest PR supporters, and I appreciated being able to receive full collections at no-cost, to swatch and share on my blog. I was removed from their list during my inactivity but recently found that they had re-added me and I received the Pink Palette - Summer 2022. Today I have Angel, an iridescent pink lace overlay with periwinkle and golden glitter. Two things about this polish... it is best over other polishes and yes, there was another Zoya "Angel" back in early 2000s - a light pink pearl.

China Glaze Ah Ah Ah-mazing!

It's April Fools Day and well, China Glaze has done it to me again. This is the finale from the "You Do Hue" 2019 collection with Sesame Street - Ah Ah Ah-mazing!, a metallic pearl purple.

duri The Struggle Is Real

Press Sample

As I mentioned yesterday, duri has a line of nail lacquers (psst: they carry gel too!) and today I have a pearlescent and sheer white with a fine, classic glitter. This is The Struggle Is Real ($8.50).

nubar Purple Aster

Press Sample

I don't know what happened in December. Granted, it was my 37th birthday in there somewhere, and there was Christmas and New Years and things just kind of melted together. Another thing that happened was my 8th wedding anniversary and to celebrate, we had family portraits taken by Sweetest Snaps Photography. I found Ashlee through a mom friend who has a daughter the same age as my middle son. I saw a photo in their house that was just breathtaking of her and her two girls and I asked who did them and she told me about Sweetest Snaps.

Morgan Taylor Can You See My Aura?

Press Sample

Happy Thanksgiving! As I mentioned before, this is my least favorite holiday but it's just because I don't eat turkey or ham or most the "traditional" dishes that you're probably about to eat. When I was a kid, my Mom did the traditional dinner ONCE... used the fine china, invited her two brothers and their families... and at the end of it, she was burned out physically and emotionally. From then on, Thanksgiving became more a day of relaxing and being thankful and less about the food. In fact, what we'd do is go to the deli the day before and get all our favorite meats, cheeses and finger foods (crackers, pickles, you know what I'm talking about) and we'd have what my mom called a "smorgasbord." However, it more resembled the charcuterie boards that I drool over on Instagram.

Today I picked Morgan Taylor Can You See My Aura? to wear. This was part of the Ullusion Platinum Collection from summer 2019. It's a white duo-chrome that shifts pink pearl. When I first saw it, I was like "Oh, that's pretty" but then it just sat on my shelf. However, the reason I pulled it now is because I'm super thankful for Morgan Taylor. They were always really nice to me at Cosmoprof North America when I'd go, and supported PolishGalore for years with press samples.

Morgan Taylor A Starry Night

Press Sample

Only two left in the Morgan Taylor winter 2019 Champagne and Moonbeams collection and today is an indigo pearl called A Starry Night. Now, I think this would have been super beautiful with an accent nail of Sprinkle of Twinkle but I'm rearranging my nail polishes (again? yes again), I had already put that polish up in its drawer.

Morgan Taylor Follow The Petals

Press Sample

I only received 5 of the 6 polishes from the Color of Petals collection so today I have the last one - Follow The Petals which is a pearl pink. If you've been reading awhile you know how I feel about pearl polishes but let's see what happened when I applied.

China Glaze Toast It Up

Press Sample

I have some exciting news coming soon and it requires a clean desk for me so I'm going through some more polishes that are sitting around, waiting to be worn and written about. Today is one that has been here for over 6 months, partially because I've been giving it the side eye. This is China Glaze Toast It Up from the Glam Finale collection.

LCN WOW

Press Sample

Today I'm bringing you a line of polish that is for both professionals and the casual user like myself. LCN professional nail polishes are formulated with a unique patented ceramic nanotechnology that marries natural ingredients with green chemistry. They are 6-free to include Camphor, free of parabens and do not test on animals. From the Industrial Innocence collection, this is WOW, a pink pearl with orange undertones. The pink really does glow on the nails and the orange undertone adds to the depth of the pearl.

I used a base coat of Duri Rejuvacote, 2 coats of polish and finished with Glisten & Glow H K Girl top coat. The formula was really nice - the brush is thin and round but I didn't have any issues with pooling. Because this is a pearl, there are some brush strokes to the polish but being a light color, it's not glaringly apparent when someone looks at your nails.

You can see a little bit of visible nail line that maybe go away with additional coats of polish but it wasn't as noticeable while wearing the polish during the day. Much like the pearl effect, it's only really visible when you're up close and personal. Oddly enough, the website lists this color as a hot pink creme but there's definitely a pearl finish and orange undertones in my bottle.

From now until March 31, 2016, you can purchase LCN on their Boutique website with free shipping using the code INDUSTRIAL.

LCN is available in both 8 ml (shown) and 16 ml. You can purchase on their website - 8 ml is $7.50 and 16 ml is $14.00. Join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter, InstagramYouTube and Pinterest.

China Glaze Better Not Pout

Nothing To Disclose

So if you didn't know, China Glaze was my first love with nail polishes. I started with the Summer Daze collection back in Summer 2009 and just went wild. In fact, this blog was almost called "China Glaze Galore" until a dear friend advised against it. Now, one thing I love/hate about China Glaze is they put out some massive big collections each year, and a lot of them. It's a lot to keep up with! The Holiday 2015 Cheers! collection is one of those massive collections with 12 lacquers ranging from pearls, to cremes, shimmers, and of course, glitter. Today I have Better Not Pout, a berry pearl.

I used a base of Duri Rejuvacote, 3 thin coats of polish, and finished with Glisten & Glow H K Girl top coat. Formula was a little thin so I had to be careful not to glob the polish on and take my time instead. I still ended up getting some on my cuticles because I have to retrain myself with the China Glaze brush which is round and thin vs flat and wide.

Okay, seriously? Look how pretty this is. Now originally, I thought this was a shimmer but there's not really any shimmer inside - it's more of a pearl like their PR has suggested but thankfully there's no crazy pearl brush strokes. That's the #1 reason why I hate pearls normally... the brush strokes tend to look like Grandma pulled out a streaky polish from the 70s. But nope! China Glaze somehow figured out how to have the pearl consistency without the gross brush strokes. I'm glad I bought this polish and I can see myself using it throughout the year, not just during the holidays.

Beauty Without Cruelty (BWC) Heather Mist

 Press Sample

Beauty Without Cruelty (BWC) is a line of cosmetics founded in England in 1963 by BWC Charitable Trust, an animal welfare organization. Lotus Brands obtained the American rights to the BWC brand in 2010. Not only do they have nail polishes but also hair, skin and facial/body care products as well. The lacquer line called "Attitude Nail Color" contains no parabens, synthetic fragrance, PEG, toluene, formaldehyde, phthalates or gluten. It's vegan-vegetarian, available in 16 shades and states it's long lasting, fast drying and chip proof with one coat.

Today I have Heather Mist, a light lavender polish with a pearl finish. I used a base coat of Cult Nails Get It On, 2 coats of polish and finished with Digital Nails Ain't Nobody Got Time For That. I preferred 2 coats for opaque coverage.

In the sun, you can see some of the imperfections on my nail so it might be better to use a ridge filling base coat if you purchase this polish. The color is pretty but the pearl finish is not my favorite.

In the shade, the color appears darker but then again, so does my skin ^_^. The polish is opaque in these 2 coats without any VNL.

Back in some indirect light, again just a pretty color but not really for me. This will probably end up in my charity pile of polishes that I send to Polished Girlz.

Beauty Without Cruelty Attitude Nail Color can be purchased on their website. Prices range from $17.50 to $17.95 for a 0.34 oz bottle.

Color Club Boho Mojo

There's going to be a lot of pictures today because Color Club Boho Mojo from the Back to Boho collection is a weird little color.  It's the greenish silver pearl color and with pearls come streaks!  I used a base of Duri Rejuvacote, 2 coats of polish and a top of CND Air Dry.  Formula was otherwise good.

Extreme sun here to show that it's not completely opaque with my 2 coats.

You can see the olive silver here in the sun as well.

In this shade picture it's more silver than green (I think?)

Okay, it's really silver here - and loads of streaks!

Finally indoors with the flash - olive, silver, pearl.  Not my favorite but definitely a fall color.  I read somewhere that the best way to hide the streaks of pearl is to add a coat of glitter - I should have done that!

Color Club is located on several etailers, including Head2Toe Beauty which has it for $3.00.  You can also Like them on Facebook and Follow them on Twitter.

Ozotic Pro 506

Nom nom nom, I love this color.  Ozotic Pro 506 is multi-chromatic pearl finished polish.  Like my review on 528, I have the older bottle brought to me from Australia by Kimmi at The Plastic Diaries.  Also like 528, this polish has the same purple/blue/green color to it, but also has some red and gold in it (promise!)

I used a base of nubar Noir, 2 coats of 506 and a top of Seche Vite.  I wore this color to a family reunion and got a ton of compliments, even some from the ladies of the San Antonio Del Sol store.  :] (Hi ladies!)

The sun puts this color in a hard blue light, but that's okay because it's still a pretty blue.  However in the shade...

Oh yes.

Nom!  See that purple and blue shift?

Then I decided to get some indirect light.
More purple!

I love the color shift so much on this polish.

Extreme hand holding!  But now you can see that gold and red that I talked about above.  It's there!

Finally indoors with the flash put more of a turquoise spin on it, like in the sun.  Lovely color.  The formula is super smooth and you can probably get away with just one coat instead of two.  I layered this color on its own for my nail stick but it took many many many many coats and it never got to be opaque - this is definitely a layering polish.

You can purchase piCture pOlish and Ozotic from piCture pOlish's website directly, but know that it's coming from Australia, so your shipping will be a bit more expensive than you're probably used to.  You can also like them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter. The cost is $14 for the 15 mL bottle.

For the USA crowd, there are two US distributors Llarowe and Overall Beauty.   Llarowe has the new bottles for $17.50 and Overall Beauty has the new bottles for $18.00.  Both offer free shipping for orders over $50.00.

CND Pink Wishes effect

After a very annoyingly horrid experience of changing to AT&T U-verse (which turns out, I really didn't HAVE to do - I'm not getting any better service or even speed because I'm outside the service area), I'm back today with the duo of CND's Pink Wishes - the Effect.  Using the previous colour, I added one coat of the Pink Wishes Effect.  CND describes it as a sweet, pale pink pearlescent sheen.  I really am in love with how the effects line can transform your polishes.

Now granted this is a pink on pink effect, so the shimmer (pearl) isn't as strong as I'd like it to me.  Great for the office or a low key event, but definitely not an in your face effect.

The effect is almost completely lost in the shade as you can see.  The bottle shows more than the nail.

Indoors with the flash, and again this is just a very subtle effect.  If you'd like to check the effect over black polish, The PolishAholic has a great swatch here.

Pink Wishes Colour & Effects Duo
Pink Wishes Colour, a cotton-candy pink, layers beautifully with Pink Wishes Effect for a sweet, pale pink pearlescent sheen.

Includes a .33 fl oz bottle of Pink Wishes Colour and a .33 fl oz bottle of Pink Wishes Effect.

Suggested retail price:  $20.00 US / $25.00 Canada

Available for a limited time only in salons and professional beauty supply stores.  For locations, visit cnd.com

China Glaze Cha Cha Cha

Today's color is Cha Cha Cha from Island Escape - the 2011 Summer collection by China Glaze.  My friend Victoria is obsessed with this color & already wants to use it for her wedding next year.  It's a "vivacious shimmer green" but it's more of a pearl finish.  I used a base of Seche Natural, 2 coats of Cha Cha Cha and a top of Seche Vite.  I should have used 3 coats.

Hello visible nail line on my middle finger.  This is a yellow based green but still pretty (and non-staining I'd like to report).

More VNL, more yellow based green - nothing new to report in the shade.

Indoors with the flash shows that the color is mostly opaque on the other nails - not sure what's up with my middle finger.  It's just being a rebel I guess.

China Glaze can be found online through several etailers, including my favorite Head2Toe BeautySally's Beauty Supply, and TransDesign.

FingerPaints Groovy Green

This weather is so up and down.  First it's rainy and cloudy, then it's sunny and hot.  And of course when it's sunny and hot, I don't have time to swatch.  ^_^

Today's post is Groovy Green from the Summer 2011 FingerPaints collection.  It's a pearly finished, light green - almost like the plastic grass you've seen in Easter baskets.  I had high hopes for this color.  I used a base of Seche Natural, 2 coats of polish and a top of Seche Vite.  Sadly, the formula was pretty gummy for me, and worse, it did not play nice with Seche Vite at ALL.

Boo clouds.  You can see that my Seche Vite totally pulled up the polish on my index finger and it also smeared the other nails.

Indoors with flash - you can really see the damage on my index finger now, and also a bit on the pinkie.  I'm just not the biggest fan.  I was really scared about staining but none occurred thankfully.

FingerPaints can be found in Sally's Beauty Supplies stores and online for $4.99 USD each.  They are a Sally's Beauty Supply exclusive brand, so you can follow Sally's on Twitter and like them on Facebook as well as follow their blog.

BB Couture Purple Haze

I have another BB Couture color for you today!  Purple Haze currently available in the "Bright Color" section of their website.  Purple Haze is a pearlish magenta purple.

I used a base of Grip-Base, 2 coats of Purple Haze and a top of Top-Rock.  The formula was super nice and smooth.

Hello sun!  You can see a bit of brush strokes because of the pearly finish but otherwise it's quite nice.

However in the shade?  Check that out - it's just smooth and creamy and beautiful.  Quite a nice surprise!

And finally one of those weird indoors with a flash pictures that I've been doing.  What do you think about these last shots?

You can purchase BB Couture from their website or from a company called Overall Beauty which ships globally.  Additionally, you can like BB Couture on Facebook or follow them on Twitter.

deborah lippmann Wicked Game

I have been lemming this color for a long time - mostly because the promo bottles always look so beautiful!  This is an iridescent swirling lavender grey - very duochromey.

I used a base of Seche Natural, and 3 coats of Wicked Game for my index and middle fingers.  On my ring and pinkie, I first added a coat of CND Blackjack, then 2 coats of Wicked Game.  I did not use a top coat.  I also had no sun...  So depending on what angle the "light" (hah) hit, you'd see green or purple.

I definitely like it better over black - just because it shows up a little better on the nail.  I'm seriously into the whole CND Blackjack - a LOT.  I also really like duochromes.

deborah lippmann sells for $18 a bottle.  You can follow her on Twitter.
