400 Followers Giveaway! [Everyone]

You didn't think I forgot, did you?  This giveaway runs from today, 1 July until 12 July at midnight:01 GMT (or 8 p.m. CST on 11 July for me).

Thank you to all who follow my blog - it really makes me feel special and like what I'm doing is enjoyed by others.

While I love buying and sending out giveaway prizes, this last giveaway took the wind out of my sails.  One winner never contacted me, FedEx wanted to charge me $101 to send a package that didn't even weigh a pound... so this time I'm doing something a little different.

1: You must be a follower through Google Connect.
2: You must fill out the form at the bottom of this post.  (For your convenience, I have turned off comments)
3: You must have a PayPal account.

Yes, I said you must have a PayPal account.  So my first thought was to give out Gift Certificates to the winners from Amazon.  I LOVE Amazon.  However, not everyone (international!) can use Amazon.  So I decided I'd use eBay.  However, that means the winner has to use eBay.  Blah.  That didn't really work either.  So I'm giving out "PolishGalore Gift Certificates" to four lucky winners for $10 each.  You will receive the $10 in your PayPal account that you can do whatever you want with it - buy online (some polish companies like ManGlaze accept PayPal!).  Please note that you are responsible for any fees or taxes that PayPal charges you to withdraw your $10.

Of course, you don't HAVE to buy nail polish with your $10 - go nuts. ^_^

Let the form begin!  Please feel free to tell your friends, Tweet or Facebook this post.  I greatly appreciate it!

Zoya "Wicked and Wonderful" Fall 2010

It's fall time!  Well, it's mid summer time, but in the polish world, all the fall collections are on their way out.  Zoya is bringing out six new metallics and creams (cremes) starting today.  Following in China Glaze's footsteps, Zoya has been previewing their Fall Collection via their personal blog as well as on their Facebook Fan Page. (China Glaze was using their Facebook Fan Page)

From looking at them, I must say, they look pretty awesome.  I'm still iffy on cremes, but Zoya has made some good ones (Flash collection anyone?).  Edyta looks AWESOME, as does Kym.  I was wondering why some of the names are so unique (Kym instead of Kim?), and why they don't have a Krystal (or even a Crystal) yet.  One day, Zoya... one day.

China Glaze Hey Doll

When I first read the release of Vintage Vixen, China Glaze's 2010 Fall Collection, I was most excited about Hey Doll, which was listed as a rose frost with shimmer.  I adore rose colored nail polishes since that's what my Mom wore when I was a little girl.  Actually it may have been more of a rose gold, but it was just very classic, elegant, and hey, it was Mom.

I used Seche Natural for my base, 2 coats of Hey Doll and topped with Seche Vite.  Unfortunately, I did not fall in love with this polish.

Oddly enough, the shimmer is pretty muted and the rose was almost too brown for me.  I have a hard time calling this a "red" until I put it against the browns of the collection - then you can tell it's red.  But if I just picked this bottle up on its own, I'd be slightly confused.

More oddly still, in the indirect sun, there was almost a raisin purple brown showing.  This color just didn't win my heart, and that makes me a sad panda.

China Glaze Ingrid

This is another one of those bottles from the Vintage Vixen collection that I kind of just looked at going "um"?  Thankfully Ingrid is not an "um" color!  Listed as "greige creme with copper microglitter."  Okay seriously, what is greige?  Merriam-Webster says that it's "being in an unbleached undyed state as taken from a loom - used of textiles".  Ohhh, it's a French word.  That explains it.

Okay back to reality - so I was really excited about the copper microglitter.  If you remember from the other day, Goin' My Way? had a copper shimmer... you know I'm not the biggest fan of gold (in jewelry especially) but copper is pretty neat.

I used Seche Retain for my base (had some nail issues), only one coat of Ingrid, and topped with some Seche Vite.  The formula on this was the same as the others but with more opacity, so I only needed one coat.

Look at this beautiful application!  It's just the right color of muddy brown and I love it.

I think this is one of those colors that is like Rescue Beauty Lounge "No More War".  I think you're either going to love it or hate it.

Heh you can see my camera and other hand in this indirect sun picture.  No shade - I kept getting green hands.

You really didn't see as much of the microglitter in this shade, but that was okay with me!  In the bottle, up close, you can see it suspended in the creme, but on the nail, not so much.  Overall, this is a definite keeper.

Essie "Made In The Shade"

Do you see what I see?!  A glitterly blue?  Go Essie!  I may have to pick that one up even though I'm getting a small collection going of sparkly blues.

Essie can be purchased on their website [official website] or etailers like Head2ToeBeauty [official website] or TransDesign [official website].
