Nina Ultra Pro Purple-xing

After reading Scrangie's post about Nina Ultra Pro Purple-xing, I had to have it for myself.  Probably the best part is the name - I'm going with her ultimate guess of "perplexing" which is such a good play on words.  Now for me, this was a straight up purple glitter with rainbow silver glitter (the kind that reflects light).  LOVE, love, love, love.

I used a base of Seche Natural, 2 coats of Purple-xing and then it got weird.  I used my Seche Vite like normal, but then my polish was still lumpy.  REALLY lumpy.  I then added a second coat of Seche Vite but the lumpiness was still there.  It never did smooth out.

Here in the sun, you can see the grittiness and lumps especially on my ring finger - what's up with that?!  It's almost like China Glaze Flying Dragon where the neon parts stand out - no clue what's up with that.

In the shade, you can still see some of the lumps and what looks like a bare spot in the top half middle of my first nail.  Grr.  As usual, removal was a bit longer because this is a glitter.  Overall, lovely - I paid a whole $3 for this at Sally's Beauty Supply and was super happy.

Unfortunately, I can't find any information on Nina Ultra Pro other than the fact it's located for sale at Sally's Beauty Supply - anyone else have more?

Zoya Gemma

Okay, really?  I'm not normally a green polish person.  I normally freak out with green because I'm scared my nails will be stained yellow.  However, Zoya's Gemma from the Intimates Collection ended up being my manicure for almost THREE days.  That's pretty epic for a green.  Gemma is listed as a mysterious green/purple duotone metallic.  Yeah, it's definitely awesome and mysterious and WOW.  Check this out!

Do you see that purple and blue duochrome goodness?  Seriously, enlarge the picture - it's worth it!  I'll wait for you.

...

Welcome back.  ^_^   I used a base coat of Zoya Anchor, 2 coats of Gemma and a top of Zoya Armor.  Then, because I was rushed, I put on a top coat of Seche Vite over my Armor and I didn't wait long enough so you'll notice the wrinkling on my ring finger.  That's what happens when you drag wet polish.

In the sun, you mostly see the olive green going but there's a bit of blue/purple shimmer in there.  Erm, duochrome... duotone... it's all great.

In the shade, this color almost looks like a jelly!  (Sorbet?)  Watery, murky, I'm in love.  This is why I kept this color on for so long.  I love it.  Definitely a new favorite for me.

Zoya [official website] can be purchased on their website for $8/bottle.

Jesse's Girl Fire Fly

So, little secret - all the Jesse's Girl products have product descriptions originally written by yours truly!  Yeah, I'm pretty awesome.  You better believe that's going on my resume.  Promise.

And not so little secret, I LOVE Firefly.  Like, LOVE.
Firefly's Serenity Cast by nillia
If you don't know what Firefly is, it's okay - you can own it on DVD or Blu-Ray real quick.  You'll thank me later.

Back to the polish!  SHINY!

First I used a base coat of Seche Natural and 2 coats of Fire Fly but I realized that it's not a buildable glitter, but rather best over another color.  That is why I decided to use a base coat of CND Blackjack (my go-to black) and then 1 coat of Fire Fly.  I topped both with Seche Vite.
Look at shimmery green gold popping out!  There's even a hint of purple in the base but it's a bit hard to see.

Same story in the shade but seriously PRETTY!  I don't think I have any glitter coats like this... the closest would be a CND Effect like Gold Sparkle but at $11 a bottle, Jesse's Girl is much more affordable, and you also get a hint of green!  NOW GO WATCH FIREFLY!

Jesse's Girl sells for $2.99 a bottle online or at Rite Aid stores. You can visit Jesse's Girl on their website, Like them on Facebook and Follow them on Twitter.

Jesse's Girl Breathless vs China Glaze Limbo Bimbo

Comparison posts - do you find them to be helpful?  It makes me almost nervous when I realize "Oh gosh, I have this already!" but then it's also like "Hey, I have a backup!"

While applying Breathless, I realized this looked a lot like China Glaze Limbo Bimbo, from the Core Line.  I picked it up at Sally's during a Buy 1 Get 1 Free promotion awhile back.  I used a base of Seche Natural for both colors, 2 coats, and a top of Seche Vite on both.

Can you tell any difference in the sun?  Pretty hard to find anything different, huh?

How about in the shade?  Can you tell the difference?  I really can't.  Gotta love dupes.  :)
