OPI It's Totally Fort Worth It

Continuing with the Texas collection, this is It's Totally Fort Worth It.  For the record, I kind of avoid the Dallas-Fort Worth area, sorry friends.  It's just way too far north for me.  Now, this color is weird.  It LOOKS like a grey creme but it's not.

Welcome to a grey shimmer.  I used a base of OPI Natural Nail, 3 coats of polish and a top of OPI Top Coat.  I decided to shift my hand so you can see that this is anything BUT a creme.

Can you see the sheer tonight?

In the shade, it's a bit more opaque but barely.  It also seems really more of a gloss.

Finally indoors with the flash (and one nick later), you can see that this color lacks some serious punch.  I was really kind of sad because there's nothing special about this for me.  No duochrome, no sparkles... boo.  Then again, that's kind of how I feel about Fort Worth :P

OPI is available at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and Ulta, for $8.50 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each Nail Lacquer. Please visit their website for details [official website].

Jesse's Girl Kiwi Rose

Photo Courtesy of Jesse's Girl Cosmetics
A few months ago, I was given the opportunity to help Jesse's Girl Cosmetics with their nail polish line, and in return for my work, I was offered store credit.  I decided to take my store credit and purchase the Eye Dust - A Collection - 28 shades in all.  All come sealed in a 2.5 gram pan with a sifter insert (note to self, I'm still learning how to use sifters properly) and a label that unfortunately has to be destroyed in order to open the container.  As you can see, the top lid has the company's logo and the bottom of the container has the ingredients list.

Today I'm testing out Kiwi Rose - Product 80580.  It's a light yellow with green flash, a lot like their nail polish Fire Fly.

This swatch was just the sifter insert removed and placed on my arm, no primer was used.
In the sun, you can see how it has a strong yellow glitter flash to it.

Turned to the side, you can start to see a bit of green in the glitter (obviously not green grass in this picture... it's over 100 degrees right now!).

In the shade, you can see the light yellow base.

To show the opacity of one pass of this product, here's indoors with the flash.  You can see that it does carry quite a bit of glitter and can look very yellow/green which is a great accent color (any time, if you ask me!)

I have 27 more shades here and some of them make me DROOL, so hope you like this little new feature of me finally going through all my eyeshadow/pigments!  I'm hoping to add another spreadsheet soon to my site, so you can easily go through those as well.  :)

Jesse's Girl sells for $4.99 a piece online or at Rite Aid stores. You can visit Jesse's Girl on their website, Like them on Facebook and Follow them on Twitter.

OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys

Well Suzi, I love cowboys too.  :)  From the Texas Collection, Suzi Loves Cowboys is a medium brown creme.  It's almost the color of the cowboy hats you see in movies, but for the record, a lot of us wear black cowboy hats.  Goes better with the clothes, you know.

I used a base of OPI Natural Nail, 3 coats of polish and a top of OPI Top Coat.

A friend of mine was looking over my shoulder while I was editing and said "I really like this color."  It's not a bad color at all.  However, this is definitely not me right now.  I would prefer it on shorter nails I think?  Also, I have a son - and you can just imagine what this color reminds me of.

If you're looking for a good brown - well, this one was good!  I think it's a great Konad base - look how smooth and opaque it is.

Indoors you can see a tiny bit of nail on my pinkie but the rest of the fingers are definitely opaque.  Good color - just not for Krystal.

OPI I Want To Be A-Lone Star

I was born in Texas, lived here for 7 years, moved away for 7 years and then my family decided we needed to be home.  It's been 14 years since I've been back and I love this state.  When OPI announced that they would be coming out with the Deep in the Heart of Color/Texas collection, I was ecstatic.  I'm still wondering if I can ask a salon (nicely) to keep their display model because I am obviously a big fan of where I live.  Now this collection had 6 cremes and shimmers and then 6 "sorbet" polishes, also known as jelly polish.  Unfortunately, among nail salons, this was NOT well received, but we'll get back to this later.

I immediately gravitated to I Want To Be A-Lone Star, "a starry Texas-sky blue".  Now, I've never really see a starry sky blue (how is that even possible?) but I was still very much in love with this color.  I used a base of OPI Natural Nail, 3 coats of polish and a top of OPI Top Coat.

It's very much a grey-blue with a tiny hint of shimmer in it.  Very nice and muted.  This has less blue than China Glaze Sea Spray but it's in the same family for me.

Despite my hesitation on blues, this is definitely a blue I'd feel fine wearing.  I think it's a good wedding color.

Indoors with the flash and you can just barely see the shimmer.  So far, a good win for my home state collection - and much more to come!

OPI Navy Shatter

I was pretty excited to try OPI Navy Shatter despite my fear of blues because from everything I'd seen, this blue ROCKS.  I decided to layer it over yesterday's Nicole by OPI's Not A Gold Bigger.

It didn't crack too well on my index finger but I LOVE the way that this shattered over my ring finger.  Such a lovely crackle and combination if I say so myself (my alma mater colors were blue and gold).

In the shade you can see a tiny bit of sparkle in the blue which makes it even cooler - seriously.

I love all the sparkle in this manicure and can't wait for football season so I can break this out for my college games.  :)
