Target-ed Color for Fall!
Nicole by OPI Launches Four New Shades, Exclusively for Target

Nicole by OPI adds four new shades to Something About Color, exclusively retailed at Target. From olive green and periwinkle to deep burgundy and classic red, these four hues are designed to transition manicures from summer to fall with on-trend colors.
Nicole by OPI has taken the Something About Spring collection that launched in Target this past March and added new shades to take the line from Spring to Fall,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Nicole by OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.  “Target has become a hub for fashionable consumers, which is why the new colors feature some of the season’s hottest hues, like red [I Love You Cherry Much], which will appear this winter as an accent shade to add a bright pop of richly-pigmented color. The neutral trend will also continue, adding elements of taupe, khaki and olive green [Green Up Your Act!] to the current favorites of nude, tan and grey.”
Nicole by OPI additions to Something About Color include:

Green Up Your Act!
This powerful olive-green has its eyes on you!

Sounds Grape to Me
A shimmering burgundy that’s up for anything!

It’s Not Me, It’s Blue
Pretty periwinkle, you had me at “shimmer.”

I Love You Cherry Much
Hold onto this romantic red – it’s a keeper.

ManGlaze Metal Licka/Mink Mitten

Update 7 September 2011: ManGlaze, cheeky fellows they are, have renamed this polish "Mink Mitten".

"Think of this as Hot Mess's illegitimate offspring. "You got blingy shit in my purple!" "You got purpley shit in my bling bling!" And a new star is born. You may have seen a sneaky peek of this color under the name Metal Licka at PolishGalore.com but we couldn't resist a little inside joke. We're calling this one the Mink Mitten. It's a nickname we had for the Michigan peepshow/adult novelty chain, The Velvet Touch."
Ignore the bottle design and kind of ignore the name... This is one of the 3 new colors that ManGlaze is creating - release date has not been announced.  The name is temporary but for today, this is definitely Metal Licka.  It's like Fuggen Ugly and Hot Mess had a baby... and then fell into some grapes or something.  It's a matte finish despite having all the silver glitter running through it. I put this directly on my nails - no base, no top coat and just one coat of polish.  You can see a tiny bit of balding on the index and ring fingers but that could have been corrected with just another coat of polish.  Because this is a matte, it did dry fast.

Seriously.  Purple.  Glitter.  Matte.  Win.  Cue sun!

Here it is in the shade.

And of course, I can never leave things alone.  Here it is with a top coat of Seche Vite.  First in the sun:
Definitely need to wear 2 coats of polish - you can see the balding on my index badly now.

Now in the shade:

I haven't done a wear test yet, but it is a matte, so you know they don't wear as long as something sealed with a base/top coat.  As I mentioned before, this is not for sale yet.

You can purchase ManGlaze on their website.  You can Like them on Facebook and Follow them on Twitter.

Frais™ All-Natural Towelettes

Late last month, Cosmoprof North America announced that Frais™ All-Natural Towelettes would be introduced at Cosmoprof 2011 at the end of this month.  I was fortunate enough to get to test these out!

To read more about Frais, please check out the link in the first paragraph which links to the press release I previously posted.

At $10 for 7 individual sachet packets, these aren't very cheap - $0.70 cents a sheet.  I normally use M.A.C. Makeup Wipes which is 100 sheets for $26 (or $0.26 a sheet) and I've been told that Huggies Sensitive Skin Baby Wipes are also pretty effective (512 wipes for $33 or $0.06 a sheet) but I have not personally tried that to tackle waterproof mascara.

I first decided to try the Frais by itself.  As soon as you open the package, the scent of a relaxing spa hits you.  Honestly, that's about the best way I can describe it because it reminds me of a spa that I went to in a nearby town.  I don't know exactly what scent it is (maybe Shea Butter?).  The towelette is folded several times and while it's fully wet, there is no dripping liquid in either the towelette or the package (big plus for me).

I opened it up and used it on my face and definitely enjoyed the smell.  I was not wearing makeup at the time but did notice that the towelette got dirty off my face effectively.  My face didn't feel any different but the smell was relaxing and there was no oily or sticky residue left on my face.

Because of the Eco-Friendly properties of the towelette (100% vegan, high grade, all natural ingredients), I handed one to my friend who has a massive sunburn from a day at the beach.  I was a little worried on how it would react on peeling skin, but she absolutely loved it.  (NOTE: The package does say to avoid use on broken or inflamed skin.)

Next I tried one as a makeup remover.  I had on Urban Decay Primer Potion (in Eden), eyeshadow from the Naked Palette by Urban Decay, M.A.C. Prep and Prime Lash primer, and M.A.C. Zoom Lash.  Frais did well in removing all my makeup with just one towelette and minimal effort, which is the big one for me.  It took about 50% more effort to remove than with a M.A.C. Makeup Wipe (so maybe 2 wipes across my eyelid instead of 1), but my skin honestly felt better afterwards.  I'm starting to consider things like crows feet and bags under my eyes, so it was nice to have an all natural product to use.

The last test for me was on my feet.  I have a form of rheumatoid arthritis (psoriatic arthritis) and the latest in my treatment of the edema in my left ankle is to be wearing a compression sock and walking boot for the rest of 2011.  I decided to clean my feet using a towelette before putting my sock and boot on and then walk around for a few hours to see if I noticed any difference.  I normally wear flip flops (I do live in South Texas!) all day so my feet are normally exposed to the elements a lot.  It was nice to feel my foot slightly moisturized by the towelette without an oily or sticky feeling to it and it did soften the areas on my heels that were cracking.

Overall: Much like the review I did on Karuna Masks on beautydebutante.com, I absolutely love this product, but because of the price, I would tend to hold off on buying this as a regular product and instead use it for special occasions.  I think this also makes a great gift as each box has the individual towelettes.

Frais™ All-Natural Individual Towelettes (7 individual sachets) retail for $10.  Frais™ All-Natural Twin Towelettes (two packs of 10 towelettes) retail for $18 Both are available at fraislux.com & dermstore.com.
