bigRuby Supercool Nail Tattoos

Have you heard of bigRuby yet?  bigRuby is a line of "supercool nail tattoos" that are just like the temporary tattoos you put on your body, but these are for your manicures or pedicures.  Seems simple enough - cut out the design you want, remove the plastic from the front, place it on your nail, wet the paper backing, wait 15 seconds while pressing down and take the paper off.  (More instructions located here.)  I found that regular scissors were too big, so I used a pair of manicure scissors that I actually got from The Painted Nail's Twitter giveaway last month.

There are 86 tattoos (one sheet with large designs and one with smaller designs) and in different sizes (for fingers and toes).  I chose the red star that you see cut out.  To wet the back, I took a cotton pad and soaked it with water.

I seriously thought that the "red" was going to show up as red, but it doesn't... it shows up as white.  However, look at the crispness of the tattoo!  Unlike Konad, this isn't going to smear as easily.  You are supposed to wait about 2 minutes and then seal with top coat (either bigRuby or one of your choosing).

bigRuby has 6 different design packages - the star I showed above and 5 more:
Cosmic, Garden, Mod, Sea Creatures, and Tweet.  Each sells on their website for $12 and their Super Dry Top Coat is $9.95.  While supplies last, they are offering a gift of their Supercool Skull & Crossbones tats with the purchase of 3 or more items.  I find these are a great alternative to Konad or nail art since it's hard to mess up.  Unlike stickers or nail decals, they won't peel up on you or catch on anything so that's a huge selling point for me.  They last until you change your nail polish which is nice if you're planning something for a party or vacation.

You can like bigRuby on Facebook, follow them on Twitter or just check out their website sometime!

Jesse's Girl Sunlit Cactus

So I touched on it a bit last week, but I got to meet Jesse Lawrence, founder of Jesse's Girl Cosmetics while out in Vegas at Cosmoprof.  He was such a nice and humble man!  He used to work for Wet n Wild back in the day - interesting tidbit.

Bonus Picture!
Picture courtesy of Jesse's Girl Facebook Fan Page.
A sea of bloggers from the Cosmoprof North America Las Vegas 2011 convention.  Jesse is in the middle in the khaki pants and I'm on his left in a black and white dress.  Yes, it looks like I only have one leg because the other is in a knee high walking boot.

I'm winding down with the last 6 of my Jesse's Girl eye dusts, but don't worry, I have more Jesse's Girl goodies to post!  I love this brand because it's quality product for drugstore prices, which with my current budget is greatly appreciated.

Sunlit Cactus is a light yellow brown base with a green flash - very aptly named.

You lose the green in the shade but the gold base is still there.  It's a bit light but would be good over other colors.

Also Jesse told me that I really should try these with a primer - so I may have to check out what they all look like with primer under them!  (Jesse's Girl makes a primer, which I have or you can use something like Urban Decay Primer Potion.)

Jesse's Girl sells for $4.99 a piece online or at Rite Aid stores. You can visit Jesse's Girl on their website, Like them on Facebook and Follow them on Twitter.

OPI Grape...Set...Match

So you've seen Servin' Up Sparkle, now time for Grape...Set...Match, the duo partner from the Glam Slam! England collection by OPI.  During Cosmoprof, Kimmi from the Plastic Diaries allowed me to sit in her interview with Suzi and one of the questions Kimmi had was about Suzi's "Dream Team" collaboration (if she had one) and Suzi said something that really made sense.  She said that she likes to work with celebrities who actually care about their nails - which is why Serena Williams was a great match (heh) for OPI... you can see Serena cares about what's on her nails... and I'm just kind of rambling now.  Back to the polish!  As you can see, this is a purple with some red and blue shimmer.  It looks amazing in the bottle, but what about on the nail?  I used a base of OPI Natural Nail, 2 coats of polish and a top of OPI Top Coat.

Okay, so does all the shimmer get lost?  You be the judge... it's definitely shimmering but you don't see the firey glow like in the bottle.  However, it's still amazing on the nails.

In the shade, this color rocks - point blank.  It's extremely blinging and a very pretty shade of purple.  I'm really in love with this color.

Inside with the flash and you can finally see the blue flash shimmer.  Such a lovely color - definitely a must buy for me.

As a bonus, here are my mom's feet - this is the first time she's ever worn purple nail polish and she loved it!

OPI is available at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and Ulta, for $8.50 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each Nail Lacquer. Please visit their website for details [official website].
