No-Miss Comet

Update: So I'm a dork and didn't double check the name of this polish. My label was cut off - the color is called Comet, not "Omet". Thank you Gwenn for letting me know!

I was first introduced to No-Miss Cosmetics while at Cosmoprof North America back in August.  This family run company from Florida is all natural, big 3 free, fast drying, chip resistant, UV inhibitor and non-yellowing (and a few more things too).  They have over 170 colors, including every glitter combination you can think of... they do not discontinue colors.  In fact, if you have a color combination that you're looking for (Prom, a wedding, for fun), I was told "Call us, we'll make it for you."  (We talked a bit about making a dupe for Essie Starry Starry Night.)

At the end of the convention, I received several colors of my choice (and a few of their all natural eye shadows too!) so today I wanted to show Comet, a lavender and blue small hexagonal glitter in a light creme base.  I thought it would go well over Zoya Shay but that wasn't quite the case.  This is one coat of Comet.

Yeah - not that awesome.  It almost takes on a yellow look over this base and with straight sun.  I was hoping shade would be better.

Okay, yes - much better.  You can see how there is some lavender and then some blue in there.  Beautiful polish, just not so much over a nude.

Indoors with flash - yeah - terrible.  This color just doesn't like a nude under it.  So what's the best next thing?

Black!  This is one coat of nubar Black which has a rubber matte finish so I added a coat of Seche Vite before Comet.  This is 2 coats of Comet followed by a top coat of Seche Vite.

NOW check it indoors.  I'm in love.  I'm such a sucker for blues and violets.  Definitely love.  Removal was super easy - no scrubbing at all which I'm used to with glitters.

No-Miss can be found in several health food stores like Whole Foods or purchased on their website for $7.95.  You can follow No-Miss on Twitter or like them on Facebook as well.

deborah lippmann holiday 2011

Please enjoy the following press release from deborah lippmann!  I have been DROOLING over Do Ya Think I'm Sexy and really hope to see it in my Christmas stocking this year!

deborah lippmann holiday 2011
DEBORAH LIPPMANN’S HOLIDAY SHADES ARE DRIPPING IN EXCESS
and not your little girl’s glitter!

The holidays are a time to feel good; even in New York people are a little cheerier! So it seemed only natural to create a collection of holiday colors that celebrate the spirit of the season. Each color has something joyful, from large flecks of gorgeous glinting glitter or a magnificent metallic finish that shimmers off the nail. Go ahead, play with these shades and let them add to the joy of the season.
SHAKE YOUR GROOVE THING – a full-on flickering gold (glitter) - LIMITED EDITION
We have seen so many large sequins in fashion I wanted to make the most FULL-ON gold EVER. All large sequined glitter in gold with nothing but a clear base. It’s holiday in a bottle!
Price: $18.00

DO YA THINK I’M SEXY? - a risqué red sequin (glitter) - LIMITED EDITION
I did my one woman show at the famous NYC Feinsteins earlier this year and I wore a ‘couture’red sequin Jessica Rabbit gown. Since I can’t wear that dress daily I decided to create a color we could all wear all holiday long. We even used the shade in the hottest fall runway show Rodarte. Talk about feeling sexy when you are wearing nail color!
Price: $18.00

I LOVE THE NIGHTLIFE - a groovy graphite (glitter) - LIMITED EDITION
Disco is back! I have never lost my love for disco. Believe it or not I was the Arizona state disco dancing champion. I was inspired by the huge disco ball that was prominent in every night club back in the day. Clear base filled with large particles of graphite glitter. Edgy and cool.
Price: $18.00

STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN - an iridescent icicle (glitter) - LIMITED EDITION
Lying on the beach and looking up at the stars gave me the idea for this soft but shimmering shade. Made from all large glitter, it is modern and fairy princess all at the same time.
Price: $18.00

GOOD GIRL GONE BAD - a bold cabernet glimmer (shimmer)
This is a rich, chic sophisticated holiday shade. Dark berry with just a hint of gold shimmer— just enough to catch the light.
Price: $16.00

GLAMOROUS LIFE - a Rolex rose gold (metallic)
I’ve been obsessed with a rose gold Rolex watch and since I haven't received one in my Xmas stocking I decided the next best thing would be to wear the color on my nails. It has taken me 3 years to get the luxurious finish in this shade.
Price: $16.00

Zoya Shay

Going back a few months to the Zoya TOUCH collection, this is Shay, a desert rose sand beige cream with a metallic kiss.  This collection was quite interesting - being such a nude when we ended up seeing a lot of color in this last season of fashion week (did you miss me while I went through all the press releases?).  I used a base of Zoya Get Even, 2 coats of polish and a top of Zoya Armor.  I had to wipe my brush a few times because the polish was a bit thick for me, but it may be from the horrible weather here messing with my polish.

Still in need a manicure, I know.  :|  This color does compliment my skin well but since I don't have to wear nudes (office appropriate or anything), it's so boring to me!  But it's a good way to skirt some nail polish rules if your office has them, I would think.

Not much else to say in the shade.  I don't see much "metallic kiss" to the polish but it doesn't come across as much as a creme than I thought either.

Indoors with the flash... Oh man my "bell" shaped ring finger is making me laugh like crazy.  I feel like I should put some nail art on it to make it look like a bell.  :]  You can almost see a metallic sheen to it, but it's still pretty creme-like at the same time.  I'm calling it a creme.  Overall, a nice nude but I'd probably pass it up on the shelf since I'm not into nudes.

Zoya can be purchased on their website for $8/bottle.
