CPNALV: Giuliana Rancic to Host the 2012 North American Hairstyling Awards

Cosmoprof North America - Las Vegas is happening in just 3 months and I have a little info on NAHA!  Last year, I totally missed the entire event (by sleeping), and am STILL kicking myself for missing Tabatha Coffey.  Well except I would have wanted to hug her, and she would have kicked me with her high heeled shoes...  While I muse over that one, please enjoy the following!  (All images courtesy of Y! Giuliana Rancic to Host the 2012 North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) and Receive the PBA Beautiful Humanitarian Award NAHA 2012 Awards Ceremony July 22, 2012

Las Vegas, Nevada Phoenix, AZ (March 28, 2012) - The Professional Beauty Association (PBA), producers of the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA), is proud to announce Giuliana Rancic as the host of the 2012 NAHA Awards Ceremony.

In addition, Giuliana will receive the 2012 PBA Beautiful Humanitarian Award during the Ceremony for her work in sharing her own experience and educating others about breast cancer, as well as championing many other charitable causes. As a renowned entertainment journalist, Giuliana is known for her work as co-anchor of the E! Networks number one show E! News, and as a beauty and fashion expert as co-host of E!'s hugely popular Fashion Police. Giuliana's energy, personality, poise and all-around beauty make her an ideal choice for both NAHA honors.

As the professional beauty industry's top honor, a NAHA is the pinnacle award to win, and the NAHA Awards Ceremony is the event of the year. Giuliana, who is a part of every red carpet, mega-event in the entertainment industry and has co-hosted such events as the Miss USA Pageant, will no doubt lend her experience, charm and wit to this year's event.

"I am thrilled to host the 2012 North American Hairstyling Awards and truly honored to be the recipient of the Professional Beauty Association's Beautiful Humanitarian Award. Beauty professionals are at the heart of making people look and feel their best, and I'm excited to be a part of this amazing event," said Giuliana.

A special part of each NAHA celebration is the awarding of the PBA Beautiful Humanitarian Award. Giuliana and her husband, noted entrepreneur and talk-show host Bill Rancic, are supporters of such charitable causes as Bright Pink, Operation Smile, Dress for Success, Mercy Home for Boys & Girls in Chicago, and the Children's Miracle Networks. Furthermore, Giuliana embodies "the American dream." Born in Naples, Italy, in an impoverished neighborhood, Giuliana's parents could not afford a tutor, so she learned English by watching TV. With hard work and persistence, she attended the University of Maryland where she received a B.A. in Journalism followed by a master's degree in Journalism from the American University in Washington D.C. Giuliana is also on the board of directors for NIAF (National Italian American Foundation) and a member of AWRT (American Women in Radio and Television).

In 2011, Giuliana launched FabFitFun.com, a daily newsletter focused on beauty, health and wellness that reaches tens of thousands of readers. She is also a weekly fashion contributor for OK! Magazine where she offers commentary on some of the best looks of the week. She is the executive producer of the hit reality show Giuliana & Bill on the Style Network.

The 2012 NAHA Awards Ceremony will be held Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, NV. The event can also be seen live via streaming video at www.hairdesignertv.com.

China Glaze Riveting

I have another beautiful color from the Capitol Colors collection.  This was another one of those that I went "meh" until it was on my hands and then I just kept saying "wow.  WOW.  wowwwww."  Riveting is supposed to be named for District 3 - Technology.  Yes, I can see how it's kind of like a computer chip with all the lovely microglitter but frankly, I'm with the masses on how I wish this color was kept with the originally name "Fire in Flight" - inspired by the Flaming Mockingjay.  Actually, I think this should have been named for the fire dress that Katniss twirls in during her interview.  By the way, WHY wasn't the interview done the way it was in the book.  I really think that Katniss and Peeta needed to be on stage at the same time since that starts this whole "is he for REAL?!" attitude that she has in the first book.  But I digress.  I used a base coat of Poshe, 2 coats of polish and a top of CND Air Dry.  I probably could have gotten away with just one coat of polish but I got excited and wanted two.  Thin coats works best as I found this polish dries fast.

Once again, I had limited sun but check out how this color just glows!  Now for a bunch of indirect sun pictures...

Geez I love this color so much - I think it's great for a manicure or a pedicure.

A bit of lobster hands here in the shade but otherwise just more squishy shimmer goodness.

Get inside, add the flash and BAM - check this out.  it's super shimmery, lots of gold... I love it.  I definitely want to get the rest of this collection - partly for the collector in me, partly because they rock.  If you can still find them at your local beauty supply store, pick them up!

Pure Ice & the Hunger Games

Yes, I know that the Hunger Games came out last month... and yes you better believe I went to go see it.  AND I LOVED IT (despite some flaws in the movie, and yes, I call them flaws).  Please enjoy this awesome press release from Pure Ice/Bari's Beauty Bubble... it's really always to see some inspired nail art!  (All images courtesy of Bari.)

The Hunger Games starts tonight at midnight! You may not be from District 12 but you have to make sure they remember you when Effie Trinket calls your name.

China Glaze Fast Track

Getting through my back log of postings, one day at a time.  Today is Fast Track from the Capitol Colours collection, inspired by the Hunger Games.  I've seen other people say that this color is for "District 6: Transportation" but I don't recall that being an official statement.  From the leaked preview, this was originally called "Catnip" and was inspired by Katniss.  I prefer it being a color of transportation - you'll see why in a minute.  From the outside, this looks like a basic nude.  I used a base coat of Poshe, 2 coats of polish and a top of CND Air Dry.  Wear time was amazing - I think I went 2-3 days with this color.  Perfect for the office!

Like the bullet fast trains going to the Capitol, Fast Track has some hidden golden shimmer in it!  Kind of like streaks of light as the train sped through.  That's my story, I'm sticking to it.  Deal.

I couldn't decide on one shade picture, so you get two.  I absolutely love my nails at this length, no longer, no shorter.  I'm still getting used to the square look - I think I prefer squoval.

And finally, inside with the flash and you can really see all that lovely gold glitter show up.  I am really happily surprised by this color - I originally thought I'd hate it, and was almost mad to see it in my mailbox.  It's great for the office, it's great to make a statement.  Love love love.
