Sation Blue Sky's The Limit

Earlier today, I told you about Sation by Miss and how they were coming out with some awesome cremes for fall 2012 - the "Little Horse on the Prairie" collection.  I do not normally wear blues but for some reason, this color was CALLING to me.  (If your nail polish starts talking, you might have issues.)  This is Blue Sky's The Limit and it's a lovely sky blue creme.

I started with a base coat of Poshe, 2 coats of polish and a top coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.  I felt like this bottle was a tad thick, but a bit of thinner can smooth that right up.

I love how pretty this color is!  It was just so in my face without being overpowering.  This is taken in the sun, and you can see that it's not too icy blue but not too electric either.

Even in the shade, this color just pops.

Add the flash and you have awesomeness going on.  I ended up wearing this for DAYS.  I didn't have any issues with staining either so that is an A++ in my book.  A blue that doesn't stain?  Winner.

Sation [Website Facebook | Twitter | YouTube] can be purchased in beauty supply stores, online or in TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Winners (Canada) stores for $5 a 15 ml/0.50 fl oz bottle.

Sation: Brand Overview

After my panel at Cosmoprof over Social Media, I was approached by a lovely young woman who wanted to introduce me to the world of Sation by Miss Professional Nail nail polish.  I was excited because I had heard chatter about "really awesome glitters" being at the show, and this was the brand that offered them.

Some background on Sation:  Founded in 1983 (whoa, it's as old as me!) and incorporated in 1985, Miss (the parent company) is a minority business enterprise certified and family-owned company.  They had many different colors to choose from, were a professional line only (salon), and are big 3 free as well as suitable for both natural and acrylic nails.  It's also proudly made in the United States.  This year, they have gone under major rebranding, choosing the top 100 colors and creating a new logo for Sation, new display shelves, a new bottle and most awesomely, making themselves available to the general public!

Let's have some pictures, shall we?

Cotton Candy - Sation's #1 best selling nail color of all time.  It's a light pink with a blue flash shimmer which I will be wearing for you soon!

Some of the new shelving units with a beautiful display of polishes - great for your salon but ahem, I almost want one for my house!  Just kidding - I'd need a single line display but I absolutely love the rainbow design and the side shelves are a great added touch for your literature and featured colors.

Concept art for the Fall 2012 Collection "Little Horse on the Prairie".  Beautiful cremes, just right for fall.

A small sampling of glitters - there were many more including some that I'd LOVE to share and will be sharing when the time is right!

On top of their top 100 colors, and seasonal collections, Miss is also having Limited Collections throughout the year.  Please enjoy the following press release (in green).  The following images have been provided by Miss.

Live from Nailstock: Miss presents peace, love & lacquer
Miss Professional Nail (Miss) announces the launch of its Limited III Collection, “Nailstock,” a colorful tribute to peace, love & artistic diversity. In a world where constant change is rapidly evolving, from economical to technological, spiritual reflection and authentic human connections are more special and sought-after than ever.

When Creative Director Staci Dao wanted to celebrate indie expression and universal creativity, she quickly looked to Woodstock as the gold standard of boho-bonding events. Nailstock’s varied collection of misfit souls features twelve rockin’ shades packed with nostalgic cultural references including: “Gimme Jimi,” “3 Free-dom,” “RV There Yet?” and “I Paint in Peace.”

Rich, earthy neutrals and vibrant, unconventional hues offer something for everyone. The woodsy environment and rainy, mud-splattered moments represent the offbeat nature of Woodstock’s legendary impact. Let hand-painted harmony take center stage and embrace your grooviest self, with nails to tie-dye for. Nailstock will be available at your local beauty supply and online in September.

All Miss products are free of DBP (dibutyl phthalate) formaldehyde and toluene.

Miss is an MBE (Minority Business Enterprise) certified company.

Back to me.

Then I got some awesome news that Miss will be carrying 24 colors for its line at select TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Winners (Canada) Stores.  The 24 colors will be a mix of Sation's Classic and Limited Collection lines - starting at the end of this month - and color selection may vary from store to store.  Sweet!

Sation [Website | Facebook | Twitter | YouTube] can be purchased in beauty supply stores, online or in TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Winners (Canada) stores for $5 a 15 ml/0.50 fl oz bottle.

To date, the Pink Hair For Hope™ campaign has brought together thousands of salons nationwide and has successfully raised over $2.3 million dollars for many non-profit organizations such as the American Cancer Society. ™

Cult Nails Alter Ego

Another crazily deceptive color from the new Cult Nails fall collection is Alter Ego, which looks like this pretty pearlized pink but come on, you should know by now that nothing is what it seems with this collection.

I started with the ever important base coat by Cult Nails Get It On, then one coat of Nevermore, next was one coat of Alter Ego, and finished with Cult Nails Wicked Fast top coat.  Wait for it.

Howdy.  That pretty pink is actually a lovely olive green/gold when paired with black.  It reminds me of the base of Always Winning by Cult Nails, which I own and did wear once (I promise).  But seriously, how cool is this?

This is indirect light.  Sadly, trying to take pictures of color with the flash just wasn't really happening.  The awesome sparkle shimmer in the polish was playing with the camera and it was just a blurry mess.  Promise.

I did attempt to set up an indoor studio.  I have a spare bedroom in my house that I'd love to turn into my polish room but for now, I attempted with my dining room table.

It didn't really work.  It's hard to tell the color of the polish and I have issues with lighting.  I have like 5 lamps but was only using one?

See what I mean?  Hello lamp!  I love lamp.  This bottle shot doesn't look anything like the bottle shot up top.  Which do you like?  Properly lit indoors pictures or shot outside my house?

Cult Nails [Website | Facebook | Twitter | Blog | Instagram: CultNails] is available in their shop for $12 a bottle.
