China Glaze Riveting

I have another beautiful color from the Capitol Colors collection.  This was another one of those that I went "meh" until it was on my hands and then I just kept saying "wow.  WOW.  wowwwww."  Riveting is supposed to be named for District 3 - Technology.  Yes, I can see how it's kind of like a computer chip with all the lovely microglitter but frankly, I'm with the masses on how I wish this color was kept with the originally name "Fire in Flight" - inspired by the Flaming Mockingjay.  Actually, I think this should have been named for the fire dress that Katniss twirls in during her interview.  By the way, WHY wasn't the interview done the way it was in the book.  I really think that Katniss and Peeta needed to be on stage at the same time since that starts this whole "is he for REAL?!" attitude that she has in the first book.  But I digress.  I used a base coat of Poshe, 2 coats of polish and a top of CND Air Dry.  I probably could have gotten away with just one coat of polish but I got excited and wanted two.  Thin coats works best as I found this polish dries fast.

Once again, I had limited sun but check out how this color just glows!  Now for a bunch of indirect sun pictures...

Geez I love this color so much - I think it's great for a manicure or a pedicure.

A bit of lobster hands here in the shade but otherwise just more squishy shimmer goodness.

Get inside, add the flash and BAM - check this out.  it's super shimmery, lots of gold... I love it.  I definitely want to get the rest of this collection - partly for the collector in me, partly because they rock.  If you can still find them at your local beauty supply store, pick them up!

Yes, I know that the Hunger Games came out last month... and yes you better believe I went to go see it.  AND I LOVED IT (despite some flaws in the movie, and yes, I call them flaws).  Please enjoy this awesome press release from Pure Ice/Bari's Beauty Bubble... it's really always to see some inspired nail art!  (All images courtesy of Bari.)

China Glaze Fast Track

Getting through my back log of postings, one day at a time.  Today is Fast Track from the Capitol Colours collection, inspired by the Hunger Games.  I've seen other people say that this color is for "District 6: Transportation" but I don't recall that being an official statement.  From the leaked preview, this was originally called "Catnip" and was inspired by Katniss.  I prefer it being a color of transportation - you'll see why in a minute.  From the outside, this looks like a basic nude.  I used a base coat of Poshe, 2 coats of polish and a top of CND Air Dry.  Wear time was amazing - I think I went 2-3 days with this color.  Perfect for the office!

Like the bullet fast trains going to the Capitol, Fast Track has some hidden golden shimmer in it!  Kind of like streaks of light as the train sped through.  That's my story, I'm sticking to it.  Deal.

I couldn't decide on one shade picture, so you get two.  I absolutely love my nails at this length, no longer, no shorter.  I'm still getting used to the square look - I think I prefer squoval.

And finally, inside with the flash and you can really see all that lovely gold glitter show up.  I am really happily surprised by this color - I originally thought I'd hate it, and was almost mad to see it in my mailbox.  It's great for the office, it's great to make a statement.  Love love love.

China Glaze Magnetix

Last year at CosmoProf Las Vegas, Layla Cosmetics introduced us to magnetic polish.  LCN USA is a professional label that was selling magnetic polish as well, but not much press was out.  Now, magnetic polish can be found in several places including China Glaze.  Now I saw on Body And Soul that China Glaze is doing a second magnetic collection, but today I have the press from the first collection.  I wasn't able to purchase any of these at the time, and honestly I'm not sure if I have any pressing desire for any of them, but I do kind of want the magnet...  :]  Please enjoy the following (all images courtesy of DNA).
A strong magnetic force is hard to resist, especially when the draw causes an amazing effect. Introducing one of the most exciting revolutions in nail polish to date: China Glaze®’s limited edition Magnetix nail lacquer collection! Infused with iron powders that move when exposed to a magnet, Magnetix by China Glaze® uses magnetic force to create the coolest, high tech designs. The China Glaze® Magnetix Magnet features three designs – a starburst, repeating arrows or diagonal lines – resulting in playful, one-of-a-kind nail art unique to each person and their individual nails!

Inspired by bold, sleek, futuristic fashion and art, the China Glaze® Magnetix collection features six rich shades:

You Move Me – Luxe gold metallic

Cling On – Gorgeous green metallic

Pull Me Close – Crystal blue metallic

Instant Chemistry – Sophisticated metallic berry

Drawn To You – Subtle metallic lilac

Attraction – Chic metallic chrome

To create your own unique China Glaze® Magnetix manicure:
1. Select desired magnet design. Choose from starburst, lines or arrow effects.

2. Apply one coat of China Glaze® Strong Adhesion Base Coat to clean nails; allow to dry completely.
3. Designing one nail at a time for best results, apply one coat of Magnetix nail lacquer. Immediately hold the China Glaze® Magnetix Magnet over damp nail. Hold close without touching for 5-10 seconds. (No finger fatigue here: the magnet features a finger rests to help hold it steady!)
4. Once nails are designed and dry, seal with China Glaze® Fast Forward Top Coat.

China Glaze® Magnetix will be available mid-February 2012. Individual shades retail for $10; the China Glaze® Magnetix Magnet retails for $10 and is sold separately. The collection will be available in a 12-piece counter display and as open stock colors and magnet.

butter LONDON Knackered

Oh butterLONDON.  I've laughed at your $14 price tag for only 0.4 oz of product (compared to $5 for 0.5 oz of China Glaze) and I tried to avoid you for so long but I did finally break down and buy a few of you.  One was Knackered this multichromal glitter mess.  Yes, I did say mess.  A hot mess - but a mess nevertheless.  It's also thin so for my application, I used a base coat of my Sephora black (the cheap one for $1) and then put on 2 coats of polish.  I used a top coat of Seche Vite and this manicure lasted over 4 days.  I photographed on the last day, so I do apologize for the tip wear.  (PS: Love all the blue in the bottle.)

Okay so in the shade, you don't get much blue but you do get this half green, half purple with random multichromal glitter?

Craze shade picture!  The bottom looks black (very dark purple) and the top is green!  And the bottle is still blue.

More regular shade picture which shows half the nail as purple, half as green.  Winning.

Indoors with the flash?  Purple.  I don't understand you, Knackered.  But I like you.  A lot.

I like you so much, that yes, I gladly paid $14 for you and didn't look back.  Please tell your friends to leave my wallet alone.

I purchased mine at Nordstrom, but I know you can also find it at Sephora & Ulta or buy directly from their website.
